Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: The Failed Dar'Khan

Before the quarterfinals began, Leylin busied himself diligently around Frank. He meticulously checked the configuration of the magic runes, the energy supply of the arcane core arrays, and the smoothness of the rune paths.

Leylin was so meticulous that, despite the somewhat chilly weather, a layer of sweat formed on his forehead. Fortunately, his considerate lover stayed by his side, periodically wiping the sweat from his forehead with her white handkerchief.

After half an hour of busy work, Leylin finally paused. He took this competition very seriously, even treating it like a final.

"Are you nervous, Leylin?" Vereesa asked with concern.

Leylin gave a wry smile. "Of course, I am. If I lose this time, it won't be just me who loses."

She nodded and encouraged him, "Relax, you can definitely win."

"Why are you so confident?" Leylin asked.

Vereesa put her arms around Leylin's neck and smiled sweetly, "Because you're my man, I trust you."

"That day will surely come."

That's surely gonna take some time because of her sisters, but Leylin didn't correct her immediately. It was better to let things run their course.

Ever since he learned of the theft of the arcane circle, Leylin had foreseen a difficult and arduous battle at today's Construct Conference. Perhaps his thoughts then differed from his present ones, but Leylin had always looked forward to this day's decisive battle.

The competition began, and Leylin entered the arena with Frank. In contrast to the boos from earlier, the crowd outside the arena now had a new voice: some young elven women began cheering for Leylin.

They didn't know much about Leylin. He wasn't handsome for an elf, but his serious and unsmiling expression gave many of them a vague signal: he looked cool.

Vereesa, waiting outside, also saw Leylin's charm. She smiled at her beloved, her thoughts unclear.

"Why are you grinning like that? Aren't you afraid your man might be snatched away?" A familiar, slightly cold voice echoed in Vereesa's ears.

Vereesa remained calm, her gaze fixed on Leylin. "As long as you, sister doesn't have such thoughts, I'm not worried about other the elven girls snatching him away."

Sylvanas snorted coldly, "Your joke isn't funny at all, little sister. Just because you like something doesn't mean I will."

Vereesa suddenly turned and looked Sylvanas straight in the eye. She playfully clasped her hands behind her back and said, "Well, but you're here after all, right?"

"As a friend, there's nothing wrong with coming and taking a look." Sylvanas straightened her sister and looked toward the arena.

Arriving at the competition venue, Dar'Khan maintained his distinctive smile. To the other elves, this smile symbolized his optimism and friendliness. But to Leylin, it was a mockery of him and his mentor.

"Sir Leylin, as a brilliant human mage, you should have anticipated this day."

"You too, as an exceptional high-level magister, should know the outcome of this match better than anyone else."

Dar'Khan smiled wickedly and nodded slightly, saying, "Of course."

Just before Leylin escorted Frank onto the competition field, Leylin lowered his voice and said, "Frank, this time, you must obey my instructions regarding whether to cast a spell."

Frank nodded slightly and stepped onto the field. As the match officially began, Leylin's previous anxieties completely vanished.

He calmly observed Frank and Dar'Khan's arcane construct, preparing to issue his orders to Frank at the crucial moment.

Today, Leylin had stripped Frank of all his restraining measures, and for the first time on this competition field, Frank unleashed his full strength. Like a warrior, his nimble and agile form relentlessly demolished Dar'Khan's arcane construct.

This result was completely beyond Leylin's expectations. Wasn't this the arcane core array that Dar'Khan had stolen?

Doubt filled Leylin's mind. Leylin looked up at Dar'Khan and saw that he wasn't the least bit flustered by his own arcane construct's disadvantage.

He seemed calmer than he was. It couldn't be any of the other elven mages. Ranger General Sylvanas didn't understand the mechanics of the arcane construct she'd brought for experimentation.

The only one who did was Dar'Khan! What on earth was this bastard planning? Leylin had a vague feeling that something beyond his imagination was happening.

"Bang, bang, bang!" Frank's swift figure and exceptional speed captivated the elven audience. They cheered for Leylin and Frank.

Vereesa excitedly shook Sylvanas's hand and said, "Look, second sister, Leylin is the best."

Sylvanas smiled at Leylin and nodded gently. With all the restrictions removed and the new runes crafted by his mentor installed, Frank was unstoppable.

Leylin had previously given him orders to retrieve Dar'Khan's arcane construct's core array. He was going to expose Dar'Khan's theft to his face.

After three rounds of crazy attacks, Frank successfully penetrated Dar'Khan's arcane construct. Holding the arcane core array, Frank ended the game.

After the game, Frank brought the arcane core array back to Leylin. Leylin was stunned when he saw the arcane core array: This is not 'Leylin' array, who did Dar'Khan give the array to?

Thinking of this, a layer of cold sweat seeped out of Leylin's back.

He looked at the magisters in the VIP seats, and soon he noticed the face of the mentor. The mentor communicated with him, and his trusting eyes told Leylin to let go and think freely, and let go and do it.

After the game, Dar'Khan sneered. After he packed up the arcane construct, he said to Leylin: "The good show is about to begin, human."

There is no need to express too much emotion, Leylin needs to think.

As the winner, Leylin walked off the field with Frank amid the cheers of the audience. He calmly came to the two sisters.

"What's wrong, Leylin, are you not happy after winning the game?" As Leylin's closest elf, Vereesa could still feel Leylin's emotional fluctuations even under Leylin's calmest expression.

"I am very confused now, but I don't know how to say it. This matter may affect my mentor, but I have to solve it myself now." Leylin stroked his forehead with his left hand, his thoughts were in a mess.

Vereesa wanted to pull Leylin's hand, but was stopped by Sylvanas, "Little sister, let Leylin be alone, he has his own thoughts."

Leylin sat on the bench with his head facing up, sorting out his thoughts. What exactly does Dar'Khan want to do!
