Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Encountering the Enemy Early

After two days of competition, the Construct Conference finally entered its finals. The Construct Conference finals, like the Ranger Ceremony, was a grand occasion.

The Sunstrider Court, the Farstriders, the Thalassian Army, the Silvermoon Council, the Magisters, and even the High Lords who hadn't participated in the frontline defense had all received invitations.

The matches after the quarterfinals were still single-elimination.

Unlike the previous two days, Leylin wasn't competing alone today. He was accompanied by the beautiful and lovely Windrunner ranger, Vereesa.

"Actually, my second sister said she'd come today, but the competition is almost starting, and she hasn't arrived yet." Vereesa pouted. She certainly felt bad about being stood up by Sylvanas.

Leylin took her hand and smiled faintly, "It's good enough that you're here."

Leylin's match was scheduled for the second match, and he had to wait in the preparation area for the first match.

Leylin saw the first match as a mere tussle between weaklings. His notebook contained no actual information about the two contestants, making it difficult to imagine how they had advanced to the quarterfinals.

Aside from these two eccentric mages, the remaining six were formidable opponents. Leylin had seen the quarterfinal groupings; his next opponent was Dar'Khan, assuming Dar'Khan could advance.

While waiting for the match to begin, two magisters appeared in Leylin's sight. One was Tyr'ganal, the other was Aminel.

"Nothing special, I'm just here to cheer you on." Tyr'ganal said to Leylin with his usual kind smile.

Leylin felt no qualms about this new friend; he admired the mage greatly. Tyr'ganal, in turn, admired Leylin. Their conversation at the inn yesterday confirmed that they were mages with similar interests.

Leylin shared with Tyr'ganal the joys of living within Silverpine Forest, and Tyr'ganal also told Leylin a lot about the Magisters, such as the conflict between it and the Silvermoon Council.

"Is this beautiful ranger your girlfriend? You two look very compatible together." Tyr'ganal said, a master of finding conversation.

Vereesa gracefully took Leylin's arm, her clear eyes gazing at him with a knowing smile. "Yes, we are a couple." she said.

Tyr'ganal gave Leylin a thumbs-up and exclaimed, "You're truly a winner in life."

After a while of conversation, Aminel reminded Leylin, "If you win the next round, your opponent will be Dar'Khan. Be extremely careful. As your mentor and overseer, I don't want to see my student lose."

"I will." Leylin had made all the necessary preparations. Since Dar'Khan had stolen the 'Leylin' arcane core array, Leylin would allow Frank to give his all in that match.

The first match ended quickly, and the victorious magister walked off the field with his chest puffed out amid the cheers of the elven audience.

The atmosphere was intense; the difference between the presence and absence of an audience was stark.

The referee for the second match was Kaendris, a senior member of the Silvermoon Council who had once served with Leylin on missions.

After five minutes of adjustment, Kaendris officially declared the match to start, and Leylin prepared to enter the arena.

As they approached, Vereesa pecked Leylin on the cheek and said, "Keep going! There will be more rewards after you win."

Seeing Vereesa blushing, Leylin led Frank into the arena. The VIP seats were located in the north of the arena.

Leylin looked up and quickly spotted the two great magisters, Belo'vir and Nallorath. Their faces were devoid of any seriousness or affection; they looked at Leylin with relaxed expressions, offering him the most relaxed smiles.

Patting Frank on the shoulder, Leylin escorted him to the arena.

His opponent was a high-ranking magister from the Magisters. His arcane construct was similar to Tyr'ganal's, made out of fine materials.

According to Leylin's notes, this arcane construct excelled at attacking. Leylin didn't care about its offensive power; he had already written strong offensive magic runes for Frank.

Assuming that the opponent was also using offensive rune, Leylin already had an 80% chance of winning. This was a new rune crafted by the teacher, its performance unmatched by ordinary runes.

The arcane barrier rose, and the match officially began.

Frank launched a frenzied attack on the enemy construct from the moment it began. Frank's speed and reflexes gave him the upper hand.

However, as a human competitor, Leylin's impressive performance didn't impress the surrounding elves, who booed him.

The atmosphere was tense, but that didn't bother Leylin at all.

Standing outside the arena, Leylin meticulously observed Frank's attack pattern. Now in the quarterfinals, Leylin needed to give Frank the most crucial instructions at the crucial moment.

The match progressed relatively slowly, Frank's frenzied attacks and exceptional reflexes seemingly dragging the enemy construct's attack into a quagmire.

The high-level magister, who had been at a disadvantage, was also moved. He knew his opponent was powerful, but he hadn't expected his arcane construct to possess so many combat techniques, capable of defense, offense, and both with ease.

A purple arcane ring slowly rose from the high-level magister's left hand, a floating path of magical runes swirling rapidly above it. It was a teleportation spell.

Crushing it in thin air, the purple arcane ring exploded, and his arcane construct unexpectedly formed a thin layer of arcane armor around its body.

It was incredible that this magister could actually allow his arcane construct to receive the benefits of his own spells. This research topic, it must be said, was truly admirable.

Of course, this is not enough for Frank. The battle between an intelligent construct and a stupid big guy always has a clear outcome.

Soon, Frank, who continued to attack, found the weakness of this construct, which is the energy consumption of the hostile construct. How could a single arcane core array possibly compete with six arcane core arrays.

Shameless Frank gave up the head-on confrontation. After half an hour of consumption and surprise attacks, the high-level magister's arcane construct fell to the ground.

The high-level magister quickly admitted defeat: "Stop the match, I surrender!" In order to protect his construct from this construct, the high-level mage was very smart.

The second round of the game ended just like that, and it didn't feel difficult.

After the morning matches, the four rounds of competition ended, and Dar'Khan successfully advanced.

It seems that it is really a narrow road for enemies. In the 4 to 2 games, Leylin will face Dar'Khan Drathir head-on.
