Douglas burst out of his office, nearly colliding with his secretary who stood by the doorway.
"Everyone, get to work." He barked, hastily straightening his slightly faded suit and wiping a bead of sweat from his temple. "Our VIP client is here."
Instantly, the modest firm erupted into controlled chaos. Desks were adjusted, papers shuffled, and staff hurried about like startled ants, each one desperate to appear composed and efficient.
"Ashley, where's the new coffee machine I asked for?" Douglas demanded.
"It's here, sir," replied a slim woman with thick reading glasses from behind him. "I also ordered pastries from Tickle's. Everything is ready to receive our client."
"Good. Fix that crooked portrait behind your desk, and send the imported bottled water to my office immediately."
"Yes, sir."
"Brad, where are the consultation and verification forms I requested?"
"They're already on your desk, sir," replied Brad, a junior associate and Elena's direct supervisor.
