I never really go outside. The sky is covered in clouds. Does that mean it's going to rain? I stare up at the people walking down the street. I pull my hood over my head and continue walking towards the city... actually, where is the city? I stop walking, feeling confused.
"Where would the city be?" I ask myself. I look around, wondering where I can find a map or something. My eyes stop at a gas station across the street. I rush down the street towards the gas station. I push the door open, walking in and looking around. There are chips and snacks. Gummies and chocolate. My mouth waters when I see all the delicious snacks here.
"Young girl... can I get by you?" An older guy says. I look up at him and then nod, letting him pass me. He walks past and out of the store. My eyes watch as he holds a giant box in his hand and puts it in his truck. I slowly look towards the guy at the register who is staring at me.
"Hi... mister- do you know how to get to the city?" I ask, smiling up at the man.
"The city? Aren't you too young to be traveling into the city alone?" The man asks. I quickly shake my head.
"I'm going to go visit a hero." I say in a soft tone.
"A hero? Do your parents know this?" The man asks. I furrow my eyebrows and glare up at him. Such a nosy man... I think to myself.
"Yes... they do." I huff, backing away from the checkout desk.
"Then shouldn't your parents tell you how to get there?" The man says. I clench my hands, feeling stressed by all the questioning.
"They did... I got lost- Mister, do you have to be so nosy?" I rasp. "Can't you just give me a map?" I glare at him. He stares at me for a little while and then smiles.
"I'm just worried that's all... It's not safe for a young girl to wander around here." The man adds. I take a deep breath and turn away, walking towards the door to the store. "Ah! Wait- no, don't leave yet... here... I'll give you a map." He panics.
"..." I turn to look at him. He walks from behind the checkout desk, motioning for me to walk to him. I walk towards him and stand at the entrance of the checkout desk. He holds out a piece of paper for me. I grab the piece of paper, looking at it. I back away, opening the paper. It's a big map, but I don't know what any of the stuff says.
"Your best bet is to take the train to the city... do you know how to get there?" The man asks. I look up at him and then slowly shake my head. He points to a place on the map. "We are right here... you're going to have to walk from here to here, then here to here." He says, dragging his finger across the paper. "Once you get here, you should see a train station, walk down to it, and get on the train. That train will take you all the way to the city."
"Okay..." I nod.
"Do you know how trains work?" He asks. I look back up at him and shake my head.
"Okay... so the train will stop when it gets to its destination... there are many destinations, though... if you're trying to get into the city, it's best to ride the train and get off when it stops the third time."
"Get off when it stops after three times?" I ask.
"Yes, when it stops for the third time, then get off... okay?"
"Okay, thank you."
"Here. I will draw it out for you." He says. He takes the map and starts drawing out the route I need to take. I stare at the snacks on the racks. I frown, feeling the hunger sinking in my stomach. The guy chuckles, causing me to look back at him.
"Are you hungry?" He asks. I look away from him, not wanting to answer. "You can grab a snack... it's on me." He smiles. My eyes widen when he says that.
"Really?"
"Go ahead." He smiles. I quickly look at the different stuff, scanning through all the snacks and then stopping at a chip bag that says umami on it. I stare at the character on it. It looks like a happy potato.
"Can I get this." I ask.
"Go ahead." The man kindly says. He puts the pen he's using away and hands me the paper. "You should get going now... don't want you missing the train." I nod and bow a few times before walking towards the door.
"Mister..." I softly say. He looks at me, tilting his head a bit. "What's your name?" I ask.
"You can call me Ishida..."
"Mr. Ishida...?"
"Yes... and your name is?" He asks. I stare at him before looking towards the door. I look towards him and smile.
"My name is Violet..."
"Nice to meet you, Violet." He smiles. I smile back and walk out of the gas station.
I walk in the direction that the map says. After a few turns, I make it to the train station. I stare at the sigh and then back at the map. I squint my eyes at the sign, trying to read it.
"Train station..." I slowly say. "I've made it." I fold the map and put it in my pocket. I rush down the stairs, hopping down each one. I stop when I see people and weird things blocking me from going in. I continue forward, but then I get stopped by a person. I stare up at them, feeling confused. They're wearing a security outfit.
"You have to pay." I stare at them, looking around me.
"Pay to get on the train?" I ask.
"Yes." The security answers. I squint my eyes at them. I turn away, walking towards the stairs I came down from.
"HEY! STOP!" Someone shouts. I turn my head to see a group of guys breaking through the place where the security guy who stopped me from going through. The security guy runs after them. I watch as they disappear. I pull my hood up and climb underneath the thing, continuing through the hall. My eyes widen when I turn the corner. I stop when I see the security guy talking to the guys who ran through. There's another security person with them. I stay closest by the side of the wall, trying to stay out of their view.
Once I make it away from them, I quickly take a turn, rushing away. I stop when I see a train. This is my first time seeing one. I walk over, stopping on the path that says not to cross it. The train is on the other side... how am I supposed to get across? The sound of rumbling comes from the left, causing me to flinch. A train passes me and slows down, stopping in front of me. The doors on the train open. Some people get on while others get off.
My heart begins to pound. I feel nervous, do I get on? I quickly jumped into the train. There are seats all over. I walk to the far back, sitting on the seat. I watch as the doors close, and the train begins to move. I clench the bag of chips in my hand and quickly hold tightly onto the seat. The train moves fast, so fast that the lights look like they blur by. I sit back in my seat, staring around me.
I have never ridden on a train before. This feels weird. Everyone is so quiet. I might have to wait to eat my chips so that I won't disturb others.
By the third stop, I quickly make my way off the train and up the stairs, exiting the train station. I quickly rush up the stairs and outside. My eyes widen when I see how busy it is.
"I've made it." I smile, skipping down the sidewalk.
After a bit of walking, I get confused. I've walked so far- yet where am I supposed to go? I take a deep breath and stretch. I lean against a wall, sliding down it, stopping a bit from the ground, almost like I'm crouching. I open the bag of chips and slowly begin to eat them. The flavor is unusual, but it tastes very good. After eating, I fold the bag and place it in my pocket. I look down at my hands, which are covered in chip dust. I rub my hands up and down my hoodie and wipe my face with my sleeve.
"If I want to find a hero... where do I look?" I question myself. I look around at the different buildings on the street. I didn't think this through at all. I quickly rush down the street and stop at a building. People are walking in and out of it. I decide to go in. I quickly rush up the stairs into the building. I stop when I see all the bookshelves inside.
"Where am I?" I question.
"Are you lost?" A woman asks. I look towards the woman. She's carrying a stack of books in her arms.
"Do you know where I can find a hero?" I ask.
"A hero? You're looking for a hero?"
"Yes." I nod. She nods and smiles. "I don't know where to find a hero as of right now... but I'm sure you can find a hero agency and go looking for one there."
"How do I find a hero agency?" I ask. The woman looks at me for a little while before smiling and motioning me to follow her. We walk a little into the building before she stops at a small desk. She places a stack of books down beside a computer.
"Why are you looking for a hero? Are you a fan?" She asks.
"I want to see if heroes really do exist." I softly say, looking up at the woman.
"You want to see if they exist? Have you never seen a hero before?" She asks.
"Nope!" I shake my head a few times. "Tomura says that heroes are fake, but I want to see the truth... All I've ever seen is videos... but I want to see the real thing." I smile. She smiles and nods.
"I understand." She says, clicking a few times on the computer. "Well, if you do some research, you can find an agency... "
She motions for me to sit at the desk. I sit down in front of the desk. She grabs the stack of books and walks off. I lean forward, clicking on the keyboard. I type in Endeavors agency.
"I wonder if he has one." I say to myself. My eyes widen when it appears in search. A phone number and address show. I pull out the map from my pocket. I drag my finger around it, wondering where the agency is. I frown when I can't find it on the map. I pull up my sleeve and write the address on my wrist. I exit out from the browser and quickly rushed towards the front, where I found the lady. She sits behind a desk, typing away on a computer.
"Hi... I found where I need to go- but I don't know where this place is." I say, pulling my sleeve up. I show her the address on my wrist.
"Yeah, I can tell you the directions." She smiles. She types on her computer for a bit. I hear a loud sound coming from behind her. She pushes herself towards it, her chair moving backwards. She grabs a piece of paper and pushes herself back towards me, holding the paper out for me to grab.
"You're here... so just follow the line, and you'll find yourself at that place, okay?"
"Yes, thank you." I bow and quickly walk out the door. I skip down the steps and walk in the direction the paper says.
