A roaring tide of zombies, tens of meters high, surged toward Su Yi and the others with terrifying speed.
Countless undead howled madly, merging into one monstrous wave that rolled forward without end—each one trampling over the next in its frenzy.
On the bridge—
There were still crowds of people lined up, waiting for their turn to cross into the so-called "absolutely safe zone."
None of them could have imagined that before they even got across, they would witness such a horrifying sight.
They stared at the oncoming tide of corpses sweeping toward them like a living tsunami—and in that instant, they felt utterly insignificant.
Then, as reality set in, waves of terrified screams erupted across the bridge.
Forget about trying to reach the safe zone—now, every single one of them wanted nothing more than to turn around and run for their lives.
Because staying here could mean only one thing—death.
Everywhere the zombie tide passed, devastation followed.
Anyone who hadn't yet been infected was crushed beneath the surge and soon became one of the monsters themselves.
The soldiers stationed at the bridgehead watched the scene unfold, their hearts sinking into despair.
"Throw everything we've got at them!" shouted the squad captain. "Let them taste our firepower!"
"Yes, Captain!"
Following the order, the soldiers rushed to the nearby armored vehicles, pulling out the few remaining RPG launchers.
At the same time, the tanks positioned at the bridge turned their turrets, aiming directly at the oncoming horde.
"Fire!"
With the captain's command, the RPGs roared to life, jets of fire bursting from their tubes as the rockets streaked through the air in a blazing line toward the zombie wave.
The tanks thundered as well, shell after shell raining down upon the undead tide.
But when the explosions hit, they barely made a dent.
The endless wave of corpses swallowed the blasts whole, as if they were nothing but pebbles thrown into the sea.
Despair.
A despair unlike anything they had ever felt before.
It was the middle of summer—yet every one of them felt as if they'd been plunged into a thousand-year ice cellar.
It's over… everything's over.
The squad captain stared blankly at the hopeless scene, his voice trembling."Load your pistols. We're soldiers—we'll die as humans, not as one of them!"
"W–wait, Captain! Look—up there!"
"The sky?"
The captain frowned and instinctively looked up.
And there—against the blazing sun—was a figure hovering high above.
He and his men froze, eyes wide in disbelief.
"What… what the hell is that?"
"Is that… a human? How can a human fly?"
"Are we dreaming? Maybe the world never ended at all…"
Up in the sky—
Su Yi extended his arm, a small black sphere forming in his palm.
It was an ability he had once used back in the world of One Piece.
Only this time, he wasn't summoning a meteor.Instead, he slowly raised his hand toward the heavens.
The black sphere began to expand—and in the blink of an eye, it had grown to the size of a basketball.
"This should be big enough," Su Yi murmured.
Then he gently lowered his hand.
The black sphere drifted downward from the sky, descending slowly toward the zombie horde below.
On the rooftop balcony—
The women watched in stunned silence.
Takagi Saya looked slightly calmer—she had caught a glimpse of Su Yi's power the night before.
But for Saeko Busujima and the others, this was the first time they had seen it with their own eyes.
"Su Yi, he…!!"
Saeko's pink lips parted slightly, her expression full of disbelief.
Rei Miyamoto rubbed her eyes hard, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Was that really Su Yi—flying in the air?
Not only could he fly, he was even creating some kind of black sphere out of thin air!
Just then, Shizuka Marikawa tilted her head and said innocently,"Eh~? Is that Su Yi? When did he get up there?"
C.C.: "…"Asuna Yuuki: "…"Retsu Unohana: "…"Saeko Busujima: "…"
Everyone just fell silent.
They were long used to Shizuka's airheaded remarks, but this time she left them completely speechless.
While they were still staring, the black sphere in the sky touched down upon the zombie tide.
In that instant—
Everyone's vision seemed to narrow until there was nothing left but the black sphere before them.
It began to expand.Larger… and larger…
Every zombie it touched was instantly swallowed into nothingness, erased without a trace.
The roaring of the horde fell silent—more than half of the undead vanished in a single breath.
The terrified survivors who had been fleeing moments ago now stood frozen, eyes wide with awe and disbelief.
"What… what just happened?"
"The zombies—they're gone?!"
"Does that mean… we don't have to run anymore? We're saved?!"
"That guy… he's too strong!"
Voices trembled across the bridge.
To the crowd below, the figure in the sky was no longer just a man—he was a god descending to save them.
On the rooftop, the women exchanged glances.
Saeko turned toward Unohana."With power like that… does that mean all of you have similar abilities too?"
Her question immediately caught the attention of Rei, Saya, and the others—they leaned in to listen.
Unohana's lips curved slightly. "You'll find out soon enough."
"I'll… find out?" Saeko repeated, frowning slightly.
She had heard those same words many times—from Su Yi, from the others—but still had no idea what they truly meant.
At that moment, a digital chime echoed in the minds of Unohana and the rest.
[Ding!] Collapse intensity of Highschool of the Dead world reduced. All mission participants may now use greater portions of their power.
As the message faded, the women looked ahead.
The zombie tide had already been shattered and devoured by Su Yi's attack.
But up in the sky, Su Yi's expression suddenly darkened.
In the enormous crater formed by the black sphere's destruction…he saw a familiar face.
Only a face.
That face belonged to none other than Koichi Shido!
But now—he looked horrifyingly transformed.
The limbs Su Yi had once snapped apart were crudely stitched together with pieces of zombie flesh, grotesque and mismatched, giving him a twisted, unnatural appearance.
And just then—
Another strange, shadowy figure appeared in Su Yi's vision…
