Just as the two of them were frantically brainstorming, two figures silently materialized behind them.
Meng Ran circled around to face them, then squatted down, his "bright" pale eyes fixed on them.
The bearded man and the young man's hearts both skipped a beat at the sight of the terrifying face before them.
"Oh? So, you recognize my face!" The raspy voice emanated from the Evil Ghost's maw, filled with sharp teeth.
Gulp. The two nervously swallowed, the sudden appearance of the Evil Ghost making their throats dry.
"E-Evil Ghost." The bearded man, his voice trembling, spoke to Meng Ran.
"Heh heh heh heh~"
Seeing that they recognized him, Meng Ran let out an unpleasant laugh.
After the chilling laughter subsided, the Evil Ghost continued, addressing the two men, "This works out well. Saves me the trouble of introducing myself."
"So, let's get straight to the point."
"Tell me, where is Blackwater Company's headquarters?"
Upon hearing the Evil Ghost's question, the bearded man and the young man instinctively exchanged a glance.
Then, the bearded man said, his voice trembling, "W-we're so sorry, we're just the lowest-level contractors. We don't know where the headquarters is."
"Really, we r-really don't know. We're telling the truth."
As if fearing the Evil Ghost wouldn't believe him, the young man quickly added to the bearded man's statement.
Hearing their responses, Meng Ran didn't say anything. He just let out a cold laugh and then stood up.
Just as the bearded man and the young man were trying to figure out what the Evil Ghost was thinking, several inky black tentacles suddenly burst forth from the Evil Ghost's body.
These black tentacles gleamed with a dark sheen, and then they viciously pierced through their inverted limbs, pinning them to the withered tree.
"Ah!"
Suddenly assailed by such intense pain, both the bearded man and the young man couldn't help but let out a sharp cry, breaking out in a cold sweat.
After piercing their limbs, Meng Ran didn't immediately pull the tentacles out, instead keeping them writhing within the two men's wounds.
Listening to the screams of the two men before him, Meng Ran continued coldly, "I'll say it again, tell me, where is Blackwater's headquarters?"
"If you don't answer my question, or if you don't know, then you'll just have to die."
The bearded man and the young man hadn't expected the Evil Ghost to ignore their words entirely and just start attacking.
The excruciating pain in their limbs made them cry out in agony.
The young man's mouth was still hard. He gasped for breath and continued, "We really, truly don't know!"
"Our rank is too low. We usually just contact people online and never go back to headquarters."
Hearing the young man's words, Meng Ran already had a plan in mind.
After analyzing their behavior, Meng Ran had determined that the young man was the tougher nut to crack.
Of the two, the middle-aged man with the beard was clearly easier to deal with because his will wasn't as firm as the young man's.
Thinking of this, Meng Ran also had a plan.
Then he gave Gwen, who was standing behind the two men, a look.
Gwen saw this and stepped out from behind them, standing in front of the two men.
Since the bearded man and the young man knew the Evil Ghost, they naturally also knew Gwen.
They knew that this masked female hero was the Ghost Spider, but they weren't sure what the Ghost's purpose was in appearing here.
Before they could think much further, the Evil Ghost in front of them gave them the answer.
The Evil Ghost spoke to the Ghost Spider in a calm voice, "Since they're still being stubborn, there's no need to be polite to them."
"Leave one, and you deal with the other."
"Right, make it clean, don't leave any traces."
Gwen nodded after hearing Meng Ran's words, then reached out and shot out a web, wrapping the young man into a large cocoon.
After she finished, Gwen explained, "That's it. He'll suffocate in a minute."
As if to confirm Gwen's words, the young man cocooned in the giant silk began to struggle violently.
The bearded man hanging upside down beside them was also horrified, unable to speak. The Evil Ghost was indeed as ruthless as the rumors said.

The young man's fate was still fresh in his memory, and he had long heard about the Evil Ghost's methods of dealing with enemies. He couldn't help but believe it.
Seeing the bearded man's expression soften, Meng Ran continued to persuade him, "I know you won a lot of money tonight. Now that he's dead, all that money is yours."
"Are you going to choose to take this money and continue living a carefree life? Or do you want to join him now and sleep eternally beneath this Gobi desert?"
After Meng Ran finished speaking, a tentacle appeared on his body again. The tip of this tentacle transformed into a blade, and in an instant, it severed the ropes binding the bearded man.
Without the restraints of the rope, the bearded man immediately fell to the ground.
Just as he was scrambling to his feet, Meng Ran slowly spoke to him, "You're a smart man. You should know what choices are beneficial for you."
"I'll give you a minute to think. If I don't have an answer after a minute, I'll assume you've chosen to die."
"This Gobi desert, though remote, probably has a lot of scavengers. I believe your corpse will be nothing but bones in three days."
After speaking, Meng Ran stood in place, coldly watching the bearded man slumped on the ground.
The bearded man leaned against a dead tree, panting heavily while pondering. The wounds piercing his limbs were still aching faintly.
Thinking of something, he suddenly looked up at the Evil Ghost.
But when he saw the cold, pale eyes under the hood, along with the hideous mouth and crimson tongue, he shivered in fright and quickly lowered his head.
He didn't have the time or the inclination to figure out how the Evil Ghost knew he'd won money. All he felt right now was a chilling dread.
The bearded man had only two options before him. One was to betray the organization, though no one would ever know.
If handled properly, he could still live a life of luxury with that money.
The other option was to keep the organization's secrets, the cost of which was his immediate death.
The Evil Ghost would make him disappear without a trace, to be buried forever beneath this desolate Gobi Desert.
No one liked death, so the bearded man made his decision after a moment's thought.
He summoned his courage and looked directly at the Evil Ghost's terrifying face.
Nervously, he swallowed hard, then said in a trembling voice, "I... I'll tell you, I'll tell you everything you want to know. Please, please spare me."
