"Wh-what did you just call me?" Evangeline demanded, her voice carrying a hint of offence and exasperation.
Wasn't Taranis calling her a hundred-year-old hag already enough, that now even Ume was calling her aunt? He hadn't said it. That was all merely the interpretation of Evangeline's mind.
"You are the wife of my master. So you are my martial aunt," Ume explained in a calm voice.
Another brief silence followed. This time, Taranis seemed far more offended than Evangeline. His jaw dropped to the ground, his eyes wide as saucers.
Slowly, small, struggling giggles filled the air. They came from Evangeline as she fought to hold back her laughter, covering her mouth.
"What happened, master?" Ume asked, tilting her head innocently as she saw him turning to stone in shock.
Evangeline couldn't restrain herself any longer. Her soft laughter echoed through the mountain, adding further to Taranis's misery.
