"These aren't just a few cars!"
Batman's tone was calm as he addressed Lannos and the others. "Friendly reminder, stand back a bit, just in case you get caught in the crossfire."
"Crossfire?"
Lannos hadn't even processed it when Epps and the others behind him immediately sprang into action, quickly retreating.
"Huh?"
Lannos stared blankly at Epps, not expecting him to react so quickly.
"Lanny, didn't you hear Batman tell you to fall back?"
Epps roared.
Lannos was startled and silently came to stand beside him.
"Idol, please!"
Epps then looked at Batman.
"Epps, if I remember correctly, you told me before that you preferred Cyborg," Lannos said through gritted teeth.
"That was before Cyborg saved us!" Epps said.
"Cyborg saved you, so why don't you like him all of a sudden?" Lannos was puzzled.
"He didn't even look back at me!"
Epps replied, "Batman seems friendlier."
"Affable?"
Lannos looked at Batman, and didn't think so at all.
As the captain of a special operations team, he had carried out many classified missions. Without exception, he always encountered terrifying opponents, but he was usually the one who won.
Until he met Batman, Lannos had a feeling.
If his opponent was Batman, he wouldn't live to see the next second the moment he saw Batman.
That abnormal feeling was indescribable, yet often terrifying.
Boom!
The next moment, the transformation of several cars in front of him pulled his thoughts back from the jumbled mess.
Several cars instantly transformed into robots.
This was beyond Lannos's comprehension of cars.
The tallest one among them was a red robot that had transformed from a Western Star truck.
The rest varied in size, but without exception, they were like hills compared to humans, imposing and awe-inspiring.
"What are these things?"
Lannos was completely shocked.
The scene before his eyes was undoubtedly more astonishing than the mechanical scorpion he had encountered before.
He even began to doubt whether he was still on Earth.
"NBE! So there really are NBEs!"
Lannos looked at the frozen NBE-ONE and immediately understood. This was an all-out alien war.
Earth was an innocent battlefield.
Humanity was collateral damage.
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed.
Something terrible was happening! The ice encasing NBE-ONE was beginning to melt.
It was all because Starscream and the others had cut off all the base's internal lines, including cables, network connections, and so on. This caused the base's operations to malfunction, with only the lights still working, barely maintained by the small amount of backup power they had.
But that wasn't the main problem.
The key issue was that the machines maintaining the ice around NBE-ONE had stopped working due to a lack of power.
The consequence of this was that NBE-ONE was about to awaken from its slumber.
It wasn't a matter of whether Starscream and the other Decepticons wanted to release Megatron!
Once the ice melted, Megatron himself would regain consciousness.
"Not good!"
At the same time, Optimus Prime also noticed that the ice on Megatron's body was beginning to melt.
This indicated that Megatron would soon be freed from his slumber.
After two thousand years of sleep, Megatron might not have been unaware of what was happening outside; most of the time, he was like a comatose patient trapped in an inner world, unable to move.
His awakening at this moment would inevitably plunge him into a state of frenzy.
That Megatron must have been terrifying back then.
Optimus Prime knew he couldn't stop Megatron from waking up. He looked at Batman beside him.
"You go get the Allspark. We'll handle things here."
His voice was low and filled with resolve.
"I won't let the Decepticons bother you until you have the Allspark."
Optimus Prime's words were firm and decisive.
And the response to his words came from the center of the base, from the awakened Megatron's roar.
"I am Megatron!"
KACHA!
Megatron's optics glowed red.
His massive frame moved, shattering the ice encasing his various parts, including his joints. All the ice that hadn't completely melted yet.
Previously, Megatron had fallen into a slumber because the immense gravitational pull passing over the Arctic had caught him off guard, disrupting his sensors. He lost consciousness and crashed in the Arctic. He hadn't regained awareness before being frozen in the glacier. It wasn't until the early part of the last century that Captain Witwicky discovered him. He then spent a great deal of effort to transport him, along with the ice block, to the United States.
People had always been hesitant to melt the ice surrounding him.
On the one hand, they viewed him as a sealed demon.
On the other hand, scientists, driven by a relentless pursuit of truth, had researched various modern technologies from him, considering him the morning star of the modern world.
Many people were convinced that this mechanical alien was merely asleep, and the ice was the key to his slumber.
As long as the ice wasn't broken, this guy wouldn't wake up from his slumber.
Apparently, they were right.
Because, as the ice melted, Megatron's consciousness finally took control of the body.
His red eyes swiveled, instantly locking onto Optimus Prime, and then he let out a hearty laugh.
"Old friend, seeing you as soon as I wake up really makes me feel fired up."
Megatron's voice was as deep and powerful as Optimus Prime's.
The biggest difference was that his voice had a trace of indescribable evil, a taste of lawlessness.
"Megatron, you're finally awake!"
Starscream hurried to Megatron's side and knelt on one knee to show his loyalty, adding his usual catchphrase, "I live to serve you!"
"Me too! Welcome back, Megatron. The Decepticons welcome you."
Brawl stood shoulder to shoulder with Starscream.
The sycophant duo had arrived.
Megatron's gaze swept over them, then landed on Vortex, who was "late."
Vortex watched Starscream and Brawl rush to express their loyalty, his metallic face, usually filled with ferocity and evil, displaying a stunned expression.
I was here first! You two didn't say that before!
"Vortex."
Megatron wasn't a fool; he knew which of the three was truly the most loyal to him.
"Prepare for battle."
"Understood."
Vortex, hearing Megatron call his name, was satisfied and no longer dwelled on the previous issues, immediately entering battle mode.
The two sides confronted each other inside the base.
Autobot faction: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz, Ratchet.
Decepticon faction: Megatron, Starscream, Brawl, Vortex, Scorponok.
The two sides were perfectly matched.
"I can sense the Allspark's aura."
Megatron muttered to himself.
His gaze locked onto his old rival.
"Optimus Prime, are you ready to accept defeat?"
Megatron clenched his fist, his voice low, "Cybertron will be rebuilt only by me. This universe, including this planet, will be ruled by me, Megatron."
"I won't let you have your way."
Optimus Prime replied coldly.
Swish! A broadsword extended from his right arm.
This action was like a signal, completely igniting the already tense atmosphere within the base.
Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz, and Ratchet.
They each found their own opponents and immediately engaged in combat.
Autobots, roll out!
On the other side.
Anton didn't pay any attention to the battle behind him.
Although Megatron had awakened from his slumber, Anton had anticipated this outcome, so he wasn't at all flustered.
To fish in troubled waters!
Also read as to fish in troubled waters.
Water is best when it's murky!
Megatron's revival instantly complicated the situation, making it more opaque and difficult to understand, didn't it?
At this point, Anton had even more reason to come to the Seventh Sector's inner base and locate the Transformers' sacred relic, which was heavily guarded.
The Allspark!
According to Optimus Prime, only the hearts of the two factions' leaders could destroy the Allspark.
At the same time, the leaders would have to pay with their lives.
"It's up ahead."
Lannos led the way.
The group quickly arrived at the location of the Allspark.
During this process, Lannos didn't forget to ask Batman about the situation, so he simply learned about the identities of the enemies he was facing.
Those mechanical lifeforms were Decepticons, hailing from the planet Cybertron.
The Decepticons' rivals were the Autobots, also from Cybertron.
This race of mechanical beings was known as "Transformers."
The Decepticons sought to reshape Earth, using the Allspark, to conquer the universe.
The Autobots wanted to stop them, making them allies of humanity.
The logic was clear.
Furthermore, Lannos and the others learned a shocking truth from Batman.
There was a simple and quick way to resolve this incident.
This method could not only shatter the Decepticons' plot but also kill Megatron.
—Stuff the Allspark into Megatron's spark chamber.
"How are we supposed to shove this thing in there?"
Epps stared at the massive cube in front of him, which was at least three stories tall. Meaningless hieroglyphs covered the surface of the cube, leaving him utterly stunned.
"You're saying we need to put this thing in Megatron's chest?"
Epps couldn't help but exclaim, "I think this thing could swallow Megatron whole."
"What you see is just the surface."
Batman said calmly, "In reality, to us, the Allspark is only a small object, about the size of a basketball."
"Basketball?"
Epps thought it was unreliable: "If it's really as big as a basketball, I'll eat it on the spot."
"Then you'll have indigestion for the rest of your life!"
Cyborg left that remark and floated to the side of the Allspark, his hands making contact with it.
Crack! Crack!
Suddenly, a wave of azure, translucent energy swept through the entire underground space and merged with the hieroglyphs on the surface of the Allspark.
The next moment, the Allspark turned into countless cubes, beginning to reassemble and transform, finally condensing into a small one.
Just as Cyborg said, it was about the size of a basketball.
"This!"
Lannos and the others were stunned, turning to look at Epps, whose jaw was practically on the floor.
"Epps, where are you planning to start eating? I personally suggest you get a new set of steel teeth first!"
"Alright! Now isn't the time for jokes!"
Anton turned back, looking at the soldiers in front of him: "We need to go back and help the Autobots defeat the Decepticons. You all need to evacuate immediately."
"No."
Lannos resolutely refused: "I'm going with you."
"Lanny!"
"Captain!"
Epps was taken aback.
The others hadn't expected Lannos to say this either.
"Don't say anything more, I insist on going."
Lannos said, "You don't need to come with me. I have my own plan. I must see those aliens pay the price with my own eyes!"
"Lanny!"
"Don't forget, Feg is still waiting for us to go back!"
Epps didn't try to dissuade him, but embraced Lannos tightly.
Feg was a member of their team, injured during the attack on the military base in Qatar. They had escaped to a desert town, only to be attacked by Scorponok.
He was currently out of immediate danger, and his consciousness was relatively clear.
They often spoke with Feg.
"If you want to see the Decepticons pay, you'd better move fast. Otherwise, you'll be too late and only see the enemy's corpses," Anton said, heading back the way they came.
"Coming," Lannos replied, his gaze resolute.
He watched Batman and Cyborg's backs as he hurried after them.
...
Inside the base.
The fighting here was in full swing.
The situation was chaotic.
It could be basically divided into two categories: one was the battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron, which no one could interfere with; the other was the battle between the other Decepticons and the other Autobots, with both sides constantly switching opponents, fighting back and forth, sparks flying everywhere, and extremely brutal.
The most miserable were probably Scorponok and Ratchet, who wasn't good at fighting.
The two of them could only peck at each other like chickens. Then, they suddenly found that their opponents had been swapped, and they were then brutally ravaged.
It wasn't until Anton, Cyborg, and Lannos returned to this open space that the situation temporarily calmed down for a moment.
All the Transformers, both Autobots and Decepticons, turned their attention to Anton.
"The Allspark!"
Megatron stared at the basketball-sized cube in Anton's hand, and said in a low voice, "Give it to me, human."
"You seem to be thinking too much!"
Anton's expression was blank as he turned to Optimus Prime: "Optimus, take him down. I'll have Cyborg help you."
Optimus Prime didn't refuse.
Cyborg's clone took the cube from Anton and followed him into the air, shoulder to shoulder with Optimus Prime.
"The Allspark, you're actually trying to destroy the Allspark?"
Megatron immediately understood what Optimus Prime meant, his expression turning to one of extreme disbelief, followed by immediate fury. "Optimus Prime, do you even realize what you're thinking?"
"You want to destroy the Transformers' sacred artifact, destroy the hope of rebuilding Cybertron!"
Megatron ground his teeth, filled with uncontrollable rage.
If a mechanical lifeform could spit, Megatron's spittle right now would probably allow Optimus Prime to swim three laps in a pool.
In Megatron's eyes, Optimus Prime, for the sake of a bunch of insignificant beings, was willing to betray the high expectations of his race. This was a betrayal of Cybertron.
However, for Optimus Prime, victory without justice would be meaningless.
This was the core, irreconcilable contradiction between them.
"What should we do next?"
Lannos watched the leaders of the two alien factions facing off, and quietly asked Batman, who was standing beside him.
"You?"
Anton shrugged at him. "Just stand here and watch the show."
"And you?" Lannos asked, curious.
"Me?" Anton looked at the Transformers in front of him, his gaze sweeping over Megatron, and focusing on Starscream, Brawl, and Vortex.
He thought for a moment. "I, of course, will take the initiative to fight."
The words faded.
He saw Anton snap his fingers.
Pop!
In the darkness, a black car appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.
The low chassis, heavy frame, wide tires, and weapon framework on the car's body made Lannos realize this was no ordinary vehicle.
It was the Batmobile!
Lannos recalled news reports of Batman frequently using this car to fly through the sky.
"Lannos, you'd better get out of the way."
Following that, he saw Batman open the cockpit. As he closed the door, he added, "After all, the final battle... is just beginning!"
