A mothers Favor
Becky POV
The air grew colder, heavier.
Even the food seems to have gone cold in my mouth.
"What favor?" I asked quietly, though deep down, I already knew.
My mom's eyes softened as she turned to Drey. "You seem like a good man, Alpha," she said, her voice calm but firm. "But please… stay away from my daughter."
The words dropped like stones in my chest.
Drey didn't flinch, but the muscle in his jaw tightened.
"Ma'am," he began carefully, "I won't bring harm to your daughter."
"She's been through enough," my mom cut in sharply. "I'd like for her to stay away from your kind. Although she's half-blood, she's still my daughter."
I knew she was going to be weary after finding out he was Alpha; it would sure bring back memories of my father and all she'd gone through.
"It's enough for tonight. I think you should leave now." Kenneth cleared his throat.
The awkward silence.
"I should be on my way now," Drey said. "Thank you for the meal," he bowed.
