Becky POV
"Am I interrupting something?"
The voice hit harder than any blow I'd taken in battle.
My body froze, lips still tingling from Drey's kiss.
I pushed Drey away.
My mom stood there with the door wide open. It felt like I'd just shot myself in the foot.
"M–Mom," I stammered.
My wolf purred, "Can't believe you just let him kiss you."
I made a mental note to scold her for teasing me more.
"Hi, ma'am," Drey greeted, his voice sounding awkward.
My first kiss, and this jerk had stolen it. I clench my fist tightly. I was just a tiny bit away from digging my claws into his eyes.
For a heartbeat, none of us spoke. Only the sound of the wind filled the silence.
"I… didn't know you had company," she said finally. Her voice trembled, but her face remained calm—too calm. That was always her way when she was hurt.
"Come inside before you both catch a cold."
I wondered what was going through her mind and if she was going to curse me out for bringing a werewolf home.
