Nice. More interest points for Esme. I only needed eight more points to earn a reward, though the reward itself wasn't anything crazy, just a little side hustle thing for me. Still, reward or not, seeing her happy made me feel pretty damn good about myself.
A moment later, the bedroom door opened and I stepped out with Esme.
Cora was already there, taking off her jacket while facing away from me, so she didn't notice me approaching at first.
"Ugh, the rain started, Esme," she said, sounding annoyed. "It was so bad."
"Is it?" I asked with a smirk.
Before she could turn around, I slid in behind her and wrapped my arms around her from the back in a tight hug. She gasped softly, then immediately recognized me and turned in my arms, hugging me back just as tightly.
Even though Cora was probably a little crazy, I still loved her. She was completely different from the kinds of people I was used to meeting, and honestly, that made her kind of special.
