The Widow Sister returned to her room and quickly sent a video to Fury.
Fury was stunned."There are people even stronger than Superman… terrifying."
In his view, even Captain Marvel might not be Superman's match. And now Superman was merely an appetizer?Was S.H.I.E.L.D. nothing more than a joke?
"With battles of this level, all we need to do is observe from the shadows," the ever-cunning Fury decided decisively. "This Daoist Lin seems to know far more than he lets on. Keep a close watch on him."
The Widow Sister impatiently ended the call.She had originally wanted Fury to help Lin Chen—but she hadn't expected such a response.
"Old fox. Watch your own ass. What if he dies?"
On the other end, Fury muttered to himself,"Natasha Romanoff seems… unusually concerned about this Lin Chen, doesn't she?"
The Widow Sister put on her shock gear and headed toward the nanny car.
The moment she opened the door, she found everyone already seated inside.
"You people—?!"
Catwoman stretched lazily."Obviously we're going to save him. My entire body belongs to him."
"Fine. Let's go."
Not far from the police villa, Lin Chen spotted a wretched-looking man in a red suit loitering near his statue.
He looked familiar.
Taking a closer look, Lin Chen narrowed his eyes.Deadpool.
He landed in front of him."Wade, why are you hanging around my place?"
Deadpool said excitedly,"Master! I've turned ugly again! I'm here for treatment—Vanessa won't let me go home like this!"
Lin Chen rolled his eyes."Perfect timing. I need your help with something."
Deadpool suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. This was definitely not going to be anything good—but there was no choice.
Before he could protest, Lin Chen grabbed his collar and flew northeast.
"Oh! I'm so scared! Daoist, let me hold you!"Wade clung desperately, afraid his collar would rip and send him plummeting.
"Hold me? Keep dreaming!"
Lin Chen gathered his aura and accelerated, flying higher and faster.
At that moment, another call came in.
Lin Chen glanced at the caller ID—it was Iron Man.
"Hey, Director Lin, do you know what I'm doing right now?"
"Who the hell knows?"
"Haha! I'm flying to Gotham City. Flying through the sky feels amazing—you wouldn't understand."Iron Man's shameless bragging was in full force.
"Spare me. Who can't fly? You're coming to Gotham? Perfect—there's a fight here. Interested in an appointment?"
"Where?" Iron Man grinned. "I was just warming up anyway. Everything so far's been small fry."
"Abandoned port in northeast Gotham."Lin Chen added silently, You might cry later.
"Alright, I'll be there soon."
Wade shouted nervously,"Master, don't make calls while flying! Safety first! You're grabbing me with one hand—I'm terrified!"
"What are you afraid of? You won't die from falling."
"True—but it'll hurt!"
Lin Chen put away the phone.Everyone who could be summoned had been summoned.
Two minutes later, they arrived at the abandoned port.
From afar, Lin Chen saw Superman confronting a heavily armored Batman.
Batman's eyes lit up when he saw Lin Chen."Daoist! You're here to help me?!"
Superman glanced at Lin Chen and Deadpool."You?"
Lin Chen shook his head calmly."We're just passing by. You two carry on."
Batman: "..."
He adjusted his emotions and stared solemnly at Superman."Tell me—do you bleed?"
Superman hadn't replied yet when—
Whoosh!
Iron Man descended from the sky and landed beside Lin Chen."Daoist, where's the appointment?"
Lin Chen pointed at Batman and Superman."Obviously, those two."
Iron Man looked over."Damn—Superman?! Batman's tired of living?"
Batman snapped back,"Tony Stark, who are you looking down on, you show-off?"
He was used to being the hero in the shadows—not someone who lived in the spotlight like Tony.
"And who said that?" Iron Man retorted. "Bat living in the shadows?"
The two glared at each other, tension rising instantly.
There was a natural hostility between those who spent money and those who trained hard. One had to dominate the other.
Superman spoke coldly,"Tony, I came first."
Lin Chen also intervened,"Tony, this is their appointment. Just watch."
Superman stepped forward.Batman stepped back.
Suddenly, Batman's vibration weapon activated, launching a sonic attack.
Superman grimaced, grabbed a manhole cover, and hurled it—destroying the sonic device.
Superman was visibly irritated.
He had come because Luthor threatened him:Kill Bruce—or your mother dies.
"You don't understand! There's no time!"
"I understand!" Batman roared.
Superman shoved him lightly. Batman was sent flying, rolling across the ground, covered in muddy water.
Iron Man shook his head."Completely different levels. A mouse and an elephant."
Lin Chen replied calmly,"Sometimes, a mouse can kill an elephant."
As they spoke, Batman's automated Gatling guns were destroyed by Superman's heat vision. Batman was seized and hurled against the wall.
Iron Man sighed."The gap is too big. No way to turn this around."
Lin Chen smiled."How about a bet?"
Iron Man instantly became alert."Daoist, you're trying to scam me again. Batman's got a secret weapon, doesn't he?"
"Smart." Lin Chen nodded. "Looks like I won't get your money."
Iron Man thought for a moment."A secret weapon against Superman… Kryptonite."
"Now that's worth watching."
Deadpool scratched his head."Master, what are you talking about? I don't understand anything."
"You don't need to. Just wait—you're a tool."
Deadpool panicked."You're not making me fight Superman, right? I'll be beaten into pulp!"
Lin Chen shook his head."Relax. You're not that caliber."
Deadpool sighed in relief."That's good. I'll help you however I can!"
Lin Chen nodded, watching Deadpool cheerfully relax.Young man, he thought, you're still too naive.
Deadpool suddenly shivered.
The turning point came when Batman deployed a kryptonite gas round.
Superman caught the bullet barehanded.
It detonated.
Green kryptonite gas enveloped his body.
"Cough—!"
The Man of Steel—invincible in flesh but with zero magic resistance—dropped to one knee, instantly weakened.
Lin Chen sighed."The power of Krypton gas… truly terrifying. The gap is enormous."
Batman approached slowly."So—you're not brave. You just have superpowers."
Superman roared in rage and swung.
Batman blocked the punch with one hand, then slammed an uppercut that sent Superman crashing to the ground.
Now stripped of his powers, Superman was utterly overwhelmed.
The calm expression he'd worn the entire time shattered.Pain twisted his face as he screamed.
Iron Man muttered,"That's brutal…"
Batman unleashed everything he had learned from the League of Shadows.
He pinned Superman against the wall, hammering his face again and again.
Bang!Boom!Crack!
The sounds echoed—metal colliding with metal.
Superman stared coldly at Batman.
The kryptonite's effect had worn off.
"Damn…" Lin Chen sighed."Looks like I'll have to switch to someone else."
