Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Comrades

The old man sized up uncle and stroke his beard.

"I can tell you're a bit talented but the young man beside you doesn't have any battle ability nor can he fire an arrow. I advice you not to go."

"We thank elder for his concern. We'll consider it. Since we got what we want, we'll take our leave. Thank elder for your hospitality." We left directly from the hall the old man was in.

When we walked away from Informative House, we entered a restaurant to eat something. I knew uncle was doing it for me.

"Are there only lunarians in the Immortal land?"

"No! There are wolves, witches, dragons, and vampires. We all have our territories we stayin and we don't interfere in each others business."

I looked at the chain hanging on my neck and asked.

"Am I going to leave as a mortal forever?"

"No! You're actually special. You can absorb the essence of the moon and nature to become one of us." It was very simple when spoken.

"How can I do that?"

"We need a kind of herb that can eliminate your mortal body and form an immortal body."

"Is the herb very difficult to find?" "Mm."

I smiled and went back to eating my food.

We left the restaurant and uncle handed me a mask that looked almost real. It was like a new face. We put it on and took the path leading to Mirage Mountain.

There were already several groups ahead of us. Some where discussing in loud voices.

"The Green Tear will match well with the Sovereign's sword. Unfortunately it has gone missing."

"I am guessing that the sword is also with the beast."

"Very likely. Since it run away with the gem, it most certainly will have the sword."

I looked at the ordinary sword with a pearl rope at my back and lowered my head.

I was a walking gem in itself.

Mirage Mountain was not frequented because the road leading to the mountain was very dangerous. Night time was approaching and the level of danger will increase by a lot. We looked for a clearing to rest and continue at sunrise.

"Are you hungry?" Uncle asked me while we were laying some leaves in place to sit.

"A bit. Uncle, how big is Lunadom?"

"It's very big. If you want to round it with a flying beast, you'll probably take years. It's divided into four dukedoms. The north, south, west and east. In each dukedom, there are about fifty plus Factions and cities. The land area is very big. Second only to Virdom."

"So which dokedom are we in?"

"We're still in the territory of the mainland. The city we were in is Light city. The City Lord is not very active if there's no threat to the citizens and hence, Informative House has taken the position unknowingly."

A scream cut through the tranquility of the night, disturbing the relaxed atmosphere we'd just built.

Uncle looked at me and stayed still.

"You're not going to take a look?" I inquired.

"Rosa, this is a very dangerous place. You can't save everyone. You are not a saint. Stay away from things that have nothing to do with you."

"You're right. It's obvious the person had ulterior motives."

"Hello friends." A voice sounded from above us.

It was that of a young man and a lady.

"I just realized you're the only people going on this journey. Coincidentally, we came alone."

The man spoke with a calm tone.

"Which big family is this young master from?"

Uncle asked.

"We are wonderers just roaming to anywhere the wind takes us. We heard there is something good on Mirage Mountain and decided to check it out."

" Unfortunately my nephew and I do not need company."

"The journey to the mountain is very dangerous, it's better to have otherwise who can share the danger."

"Let them stay uncle."

"Just stay if you want." This childish uncle of mine was acting arrogantly again.

"Thank you little friend. I'm Dagwood Garth and she is my sister, Dagwood Hertha."

"Call me Neraid. This is my nephew, Rosa."

"I just realized you didn't go to take a look." Garth quizzed.

"Why should we? They are not my responsibility."

"True though."

We sat by the fire uncle set and talked about the Green Tear. Although Garth looked like a gentle man, he also knew quite a lot. He was the one basically doing the talking and uncle kept nodding anytime he made an important point.

We weren't the only people who did not go. Soon, the others came back talking in loud voices.

" But what is a girl doing there? Isn't she afraid or she is just stubborn?"

"She overestimated herself, maybe you don't know but it is said that there is a short way that leads directly to the top of the mountain. It probably is a tunnel. If I'm not mistaken, she was looking for that tunnel."
