Ronald watched the door close. Isolde's eyes remained fixed on him until the door shut, leaving him alone with the dark figure seated upon the throne.
That was his son. Or at least, he used to be.
"You're here to turn me back?" the Unknown King asked.
Ronald had heard many accounts of what it was like to hear the Unknown King speak. Now that he stood in the same room with him, he understood why. There was authority in his voice alone.
"Turn you back? No." Ronald shook his head. "I'm here to lead you forward."
"Is that so?"
Ronald looked around. "A grand throne room. When your mother was pregnant, I dreamt of giving you a great life, but I never imagined my son would have an entire castle. I never thought you would sit on a throne, marry so young, or become part of such an influential family. Your life turned out bigger and better than I ever dreamt it would."
The Unknown King remained silent.
