"Maya, wait!" Aiden said, as his voice was raw and desperate.
Maya stopped at the side of the training field, her heart was already beating fast before she even looked at his face. She had not slept in days since Victor's forces had shown themselves. Every second had been survival, duty... and trying not to show the load of Aiden's words in her eyes. Now she could not avoid it anymore.
"Aiden, this is not the time…" She said softly and tiredly.
"It is the only time, I can't keep lying, Maya. I can't keep pretending that I am just your friend and your soldier." He cut in, taking a few shaky steps toward her. His chest was raising up and down, his hands were at his sides.
She moved, looking away toward the woods. He kept going, his voice was shaking.
