The office still smelled faintly of rain and tension.
After the kiss, silence had settled between us… that heavy kind that didn't fade even when words tried to fill it. Ares had returned to his side of the desk, jaw tight, pretending to read something that was not even on his screen. And I… I walked out before my chest betrayed how unsteady my breathing had become.
Now, sitting in my own office, I tried to pretend nothing had happened.
