Ares's POV
The sound of Vale's voice hit like a punch I didn't see coming.
Calm. Controlled. Dangerous.
He walked further into the boardroom as if the chaos… the scattered papers, the tension, my clenched fists… was just background noise to him.
Jasmine stood frozen by the window, every muscle in her body locked tight. I could almost feel the sharpness in the air between them… history, secrets, whatever the hell Zara's last words had meant.
"Grayson Vale." I said finally, my voice low and even. "You picked an interesting moment to show up."
BHe smiled faintly. "I have good timing."
No one in this building believed that. Grayson Vale didn't show up… he appeared when something was about to break.
I gestured to the table, littered with contracts and shattered composure. "Since you're here, Mr. Vale, maybe you can explain why KnightCorp just got hit with an SEC alert about files connected to your merger."
