Jasmine's POV
The rain has not stopped since last night.
I watched droplets race down the glass walls of my office, tracing crooked lines across the view of the city below. It felt fitting… chaos disguised as calm. The merger meeting was set for ten a.m., and my stomach had not stopped twisting since dawn.
Ares had not called. Not after the conversation last night. Not even after I sent him the documents Leonard found. Typical. When things got too Close, he pulled away.
But today, he didn't have that choice.
Today was about control… mine.
I adjusted my blazer, forcing the tremor in my hands to still. I had worked too hard, lost too much, to let anyone see fear. Especially not Zara.
A soft knock broke my thoughts.
"Come in." I said.
Leonard stepped in, holding a folder and a coffee. "You look like someone going into battle."
"Isn't that what this is?"
He smirked slightly and handed me the coffee. "You sure you're ready?"
