Sara wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. Adam remained standing, offering no explanation for his choices, which was the very thing she was desperate to hear.
"Calm down, Sara," Katherine's soft voice fell into her ears. She was the only one who hadn't attended the event, finding her son's act utterly ridiculous.
"Did you tell her about tonight's event, Mother?" Adam finally asked Katherine, ignoring Sara entirely.
"Yes, I did," Katherine said, keeping a straight face. "You can't choose an heir other than Sara. She carries your blood. Diego and Frida will ruin you if you keep giving them what they don't deserve. You know this better than I do, son."
"Grandma, why do you see us as lesser than Sara?" Diego stepped up, his voice laced with indignation. "Just because we are stepchildren to Dad? We came to this house when Dad married our mother. This is not right. She brought fake evidence against me this time with her husband," he pronounced, gritting his teeth.
