Chapter 247 - dry heart

In the end, Kim's body could not endure… for he was merely a human of flesh and blood, and his heart could not withstand such cruelty.

Thus, Kim tried to make himself immune to pain… he grew stronger, as if he were a rock.

But he did not account for the fact that no matter how durable something becomes… it will eventually shatter, whether by the toll of time or the weight of pressure.

And so… his heart could not bear those words.

His eyes betrayed everything inside him…

Then, he said to Amun:

"Amun… I am no longer the same person. I have changed for the worse… I am the worst end and the worst beginning to any dream… You don't know what is inside me."

Amun replied calmly:

"And why not tell me what you've been through? Perhaps I can find a solution to whatever failure you've faced."

Kim's smile widened as he said:

"I failed even at dying… Can you solve that?"

Amun sighed and said:

"Enough with these words… come inside. I truly want to talk to you."

Kim answered:

"I've never gained anything from talking."

Amun smiled slightly and said:

"Yes, you're right… talking is boring, but its value comes from the person you are talking to."

They sat together in a large hall inside the house.

Kim looked around and said:

"Do you own all of this?"

Amun replied:

"Yes… but this isn't mine. When I came here, the people of this world accepted me until I became one of them… I even got married."

He then laughed and added:

"And soon, you'll be an uncle to my children."

Amun was smiling, but Kim was looking from a different perspective…

He muttered to himself:

"Children… an uncle… marriage… a happy life… damn it. Does life insist on humiliating me?

Everyone is born with a happy beginning and a happy end… or some with a happy beginning and a sad end…

But who is destined for the opposite in every direction? Me?

What is my beginning? And what is my end?

Everyone changes… but I don't. I have no other paths to take…

There is only one road… toward loneliness and suffering.

Amun… I truly envy you… amidst the darkness, you found the light.

As for me… I am in the light, yet I always return to the point of darkness…

To hell with my life."

Amun interrupted his thoughts with a loud voice:

"Hey Kim! Can you hear me?"

Kim looked at him and said:

"Sorry… I was miles away."

Amun said:

"Do you want to eat? My wife's cooking is good."

She was standing nearby.

Kim replied:

"I don't want to… I just want to sleep."

Amun looked at him with concern:

"Don't worry… I will help you with everything. Don't be sad."

Kim raised his face toward Amun… his eyes were bloodshot from crying, and his face was pale.

He said to him:

"Hey Amun… am I sad? I haven't seen my own face in a long time."

Amun looked at him in despair and said:

"Yes… sad to a painful degree… to an unbearable degree."

Kim gave a faint smile and said:

"I'm sorry you have someone like me around… I can't see those around me, but I feel as though everyone is disgusted just looking at me."

Amun grew angry and said:

"Who would dare? Bring them before me!"

Kim stood up and said:

"No… honesty in feelings is better than a false silence."

And as he stepped forward… he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

Amun rushed toward him quickly:

"Kim! Are you okay?!"

He then realized Kim had fainted…

His body was in a state of chaos…

"What is wrong with his eyes? Is there a skill affecting them?"

He called his wife urgently and asked her to bring a specific bottle, and she set off immediately.

When Kim woke up, he found his body in a slightly better state.

There was pain inside him, but it was beginning to gradually fade.

He looked around… and found someone beside him.

Suddenly, he moved with frantic speed:

"Where am I? Who are you?! How… has the light returned to my eyes?"

The person smiled and said:

"Did you really forget my face? You truly are an idiot."

Kim looked at him and said:

"Amun… is this your true body?"

He replied:

"Yes, that's right… you haven't seen my true form before. I'm sorry."

Suddenly… Kim slapped him across the face:

"Who's the idiot here?!"

Laughter broke out between them…

But the servants and guards were in a state of anxiety:

How could this person joke with "The Destroyer" in such a manner?

And even stranger… Amun let him, as if he were someone close… or perhaps, even stronger than him?

Amun's wife approached the door slowly:

"Welcome."

Kim looked at her and asked:

"Are you Amun's wife?"

She said:

"Yes."

He said:

"Good… take care of him."

Then he turned and said:

"I must go."

Amun was surprised:

"To where?"

Kim said:

"I don't know… if my mother survived what happened… I want to look for her."

Amun replied:

"Don't worry… that fool wouldn't let one of her children die."

Kim froze:

"What?"

Amun said quickly:

"You shouldn't know."

Kim's eyes narrowed, and the atmosphere turned grim:

"What are you saying…? Your words contradict themselves. Your information is encrypted, Amun."

Amun asked:

"Do you want to know the truth or remain in the unknown?

I told you she is fine… don't worry. Just stay with me for a while."

Kim understood that this was not a suggestion… it was a command.

He looked at him with dark, sharp eyes:

"I said I want to go… who are you to oppose me? Do you wish for death?"

Amun smiled slightly and said:

"No… I just want you to stay with me a little longer. And if it is an order… I will make you do it in the end.

So let's call it… an understanding."

Kim said coldly:

"I only want to check on my mother… to see if she is okay. Where is she?"

Amun went silent for a moment…

Then he spoke a few words…

But they…

Were enough to kill all hope.
