Chapter 124: Each One's Journey Home
"Ding. Main Quest 2 Completed. Rewards: Two Master Balls, a set of Mewtwonite X, a random Legendary Pokémon Map, Healing Power and Psychic Power unlocked."
The system notification chimed the moment President Goodshow handed the championship trophy to Ryan. Ryan was secretly delighted. With Mewtwonite X, his chances of winning against the Elite Four were significantly improved.
Healing Power and Psychic Power were also unlocked. Healing Power restored a Pokémon's stamina and HP, while Psychic Power, like Sabrina's, boosted the strength of Psychic-type Pokémon while also increasing his own psychic abilities. These were quite the rewards.
"Ding. Main Quest Three has been activated. Capture six designated Pokémon from the Hoenn region to participate in the Ever Grande Conference (No Legendary Pokémon are allowed, and Pokémon drawn by the system do not count). Rewards: Five Master Balls, a set of Mewtwonite Y, a random Legendary Pokémon map, and two Plate Fragments."
"Ding. Cheat codes have been activated. Main Quest Three has been modified. There are no restrictions on Pokémon the host can use, and the rewards remain the same."
Ryan broke out in a cold sweat. He'd done the right thing by activating the cheat. The Pokémon the system had assigned him were: Wurmple, Surskit, Taillow, Azurill, Poochyena, and Sableye. Note: These are the ones that can't evolve!
Damn, if you want to kill him, just say so. Even if he trained these six, how was he supposed to compete? Wurmple versus Articuno? Or would Azurill be so cute that it would charm the opponent to death!
But now wasn't the time to think about that. Ryan's application to the League for a match against an Elite Four member had been approved. The match would take place at Ryan's manor, against Lorelei.
If Ryan defeated Lorelei, it would prove he possessed Elite Four-level strength, and a position among the Elite Four of the League would be his if he wanted it. Of course, whether Ryan was willing or not was another matter.
The Silver Conference concluded, and everyone was going their separate ways. Ryan and the other three parted ways at the airport. Rosa flew back to the Unova region, while Ruby also flew to Goldenrod City, preparing to move to Hoenn's Littleroot Town.
Ryan and Lillie watched as the two planes took their friends away. With a sigh, they boarded the Aether Foundation's chartered plane and flew to Pallet Town.
Ash and the others didn't plan to fly, preferring to walk back, treating it as their final journey together. After all, Misty had to return to inherit the Cerulean Gym, and Brock had family matters to attend to.
With his traveling companions all gone their separate ways, Ryan felt a sense of emptiness. Lillie sat beside Ryan, watching him stare blankly at the scenery outside the plane window, and couldn't help but hold his hand.
Ryan came to his senses and turned to look at Lillie. Lillie smiled softly, a gentle expression on her face. "Don't worry, you still have me, don't you?"
Ryan smiled, squeezed Lillie's hand, and said, "Yes, I still have you. Don't worry about me. We'll meet up with Ruby next year when we go to the Hoenn region to challenge the Hoenn League. We can travel together again then."
Lillie didn't say anything. She leaned her head against Ryan's shoulder and said, "I'm a little sleepy. Let me borrow your shoulder."
Looking at Lillie's profile, Ryan thought about the upcoming battles: after defeating Lorelei, the next step would be preparing for the Hoenn region trip, bringing the legendary titans of land, sea, and sky under his wing, and finally, the showdown with the League!
Ryan's resources weren't going to be taken so easily! Whatever the League had taken, they would have to give back!
After a day of flying, they finally arrived at the airport in Pallet Town. Back at their villa, Ryan threw himself onto the large bed and caught up on some much-needed sleep.
He slept until noon the next day. Lillie brought two Clefairy and a meal that straddled the line between breakfast and lunch to Ryan.
After eating, Ryan and Lillie mounted Aerodactyl and flew to a small island near Ryan's territorial waters.
This was where Team Rocket's Mewtwo was teaching Ryan's Mewtwo, and Ryan met with that Mewtwo. Ryan's Mewtwo explained their purpose to the other Mewtwo, who nodded, sat down, and began discussing matters with Ryan.
The discussion was essentially simple: Ryan hoped that Mewtwo would help him in his time of need. Mewtwo agreed, but with one condition: the island would be its territory from now on, and it didn't want anyone disturbing it.
Ryan agreed and instructed Gyarados to inform the surrounding Water-type Pokémon that any outsiders trespassing were to be expelled immediately. Gyarados nodded and went to inform the nearby Water Pokémon.
A while later, Gyarados returned, bringing with it a young Lugia. The little Lugia recognized Ryan and flew over happily, begging for food.
Curious, Lillie took the bag of Pokéblocks from Ryan and began feeding the little Lugia.
From Gyarados, Ryan learned that the number of Water-type Pokémon in the area had increased significantly, and that the Pokémon inside the manor had also grown in number. According to the staff's report, all of them were caught by Kris. This made Ryan exclaim, "She truly lives up to being the legendary Pokémon catching master!" Her efficiency was astonishing.
The arrival of the little Lugia also attracted the parent Lugia. Gazing at the massive Lugia, Ryan handed it the Silver Wing given by the system and explained his conditions. Lugia was hesitant, considering the League had been kind to them, but since Ryan was approaching with the Silver Wing in hand, it was hard to refuse.
"Don't worry, it's just this once," Ryan said. "I only need your support this one time. After this, I won't bother you. How about that?"
Lugia hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded in agreement.
Ryan left several of his Pokémon that were close to mastering Origin Power with Mewtwo. He named the island "Legendary Island." After all, the island was indeed filled with Legendary Pokémon. Even if they weren't there yet, they were on their way to becoming Legendary-class.
Charizard hadn't returned to Charicific Valley yet. After all, the Elite Four battle was coming up soon, and Charizard was Ryan's main powerhouse, so having it far away would be inconvenient.
The Elite Four battle was a 6v6 match, and Ryan considered it for a long time before settling on his roster: Charizard, Greninja, Aerodactyl, Zeraora, Celebi, and Mewtwo.
These were probably Ryan's top six Pokémon. Although Solgaleo had already comprehended Origin Power and reached Pseudo-Legendary strength, it honestly lacked combat experience. To play it safe, Ryan passed it up in favor of Greninja, which was more maneuverable and had more battle experience.
Ryan then began spending diamonds and popularity points lavishly on suitable items for them, while also familiarizing them with the equipment. He conveniently used Solgaleo for training, which also served as additional practice for Solgaleo, allowing it to quickly become accustomed to high-level combat.
Time passed unnoticed, and the Elite Four battle approached. After Ryan made his final adjustments, the day of the Elite Four battle arrived.
Time: 9:00 AM, Location: The battle field behind Ryan's manor, Participants: Ryan and Lorelei.
League officials and the other Elite Four members were also present to watch, to see if Ryan truly possessed Elite Four-level strength!
