"My name is Laki Olietta, and my specialty is Wood-Make Magic."
Laki introduced herself. She was only ten years old, the same age as Cana and the others. Like them, she had set out on her own at such a young age.
After being brought into Fairy Tail by Moen, Laki quickly completed her registration and officially became a member of the guild. The process was surprisingly simple, partly because of her young age.
Of course, for now, Laki was only an apprentice member under evaluation. Whether she could be promoted to a full-fledged mage would depend on her later performance.
She had not yet received the magical emblem that symbolized Fairy Tail.
"All right, Laki, in a bit Erza Sis will take you to the dormitory. Just follow her. Oh, I'm Moen—Moen Dreyar."
Moen nodded, then entrusted the bespectacled girl to Erza, who stood nearby.
Being called "Erza-sis" by Moen made Erza smile. Dressed lightly, with sun-kissed skin and a graceful figure, she looked like someone born to dance—and indeed, she was Fairy Tail's number one dancer, the dream girl of many guild members.
"Come with me, little Laki."
Erza affectionately pinched Moen's cheek before turning to Laki, smiling as she reached for the girl's luggage.
"Wooooooah~~~!"
The affectionate gesture instantly drew jealous howls from the guild's older men. They wished it were them having their cheeks pinched instead.
Crash!
Caught up in the excitement, Macao accidentally broke a bench in half with one careless slap. But such things were common in Fairy Tail; this bunch of rowdy men rarely held back. After a few drinks, they broke guild property even more often.
Macao, Wakaba, and the others were already used to this. No one took a broken bench seriously. They just kept laughing and messing around. Never mind that most of them already had wives—getting excited over Erza was pointless; she would never look their way.
Crack!
In his excitement, Wakaba even broke the corner of a table.
"Uncle Macao! Uncle Wakaba! Stop damaging guild property!"
Moen's eyelids twitched as he shouted. He absolutely hated seeing guild property destroyed. With his sights set on becoming guild master one day, he had a strong sense of responsibility. After all, these were the guild's assets!
"What's the big deal, Moen? We'll pay for it anyway! You brat, trying to boss around your uncles already? Really planning to be the next master, huh?"
Macao brushed off Moen's scolding with a laugh, even turning it into a joke. The others laughed too.
"#!!"
A giant stress mark practically popped up over Moen's head. Their relationship was too close—these were the uncles who'd watched him grow up and always looked after him. It was hard to stay serious with them.
"These guys…"
Moen shook his head helplessly. All these uncles were like kids themselves, never reliable. Whenever they gathered, chaos followed.
But maybe that was what Fairy Tail truly was: unrestrained, undefined, a guild where every mage forged their own magical path.
The name Fairy Tail meant eternal mystery, eternal adventure.
Of course, that was also why the guild's reputation was both extremely good and extremely bad. Too much freedom often led to plenty of trouble.
The noisy, rowdy atmosphere fascinated the newcomer Laki. She could feel it—the warmth, the sense of family.
This guild was like a big harmonious household. Guildmates weren't just colleagues working together; they were partners bound by unconditional trust, living together like family.
"Mo… Moen, I can repair these pieces of furniture."
Laki's heart was touched by the atmosphere, and she wanted to blend in, to truly become part of this family.
"Huh? Really?"
Moen's eyes lit up instantly. He looked at Laki with expectation, waiting for her response.
"Yes, I can restore them to their original state!"
Under Moen's gaze, Laki spoke with determination. She specialized in Wood-Make Magic. Not only could she repair broken furniture, but she could also use her magic to create new ones.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Laki."
Moen nodded, signaling her to give it a try. The rest of the guild stopped fooling around, turning their attention to Laki, their eyes filled with the same anticipation as Moen's.
That heavy expectation gave Laki a bit of pressure, but with Moen's encouragement, she raised her hands and cast her spell.
Buzz!
Magic power surged. Under the influence of her Wood-Make Magic, the broken bench was restored, the table's corner perfectly mended, and even the dents and scratches that had accumulated over the years were smoothed away!
As the spell ended, the entire guild hall looked brand new. Every piece of wooden furniture seemed as if it had just been reforged!
"..."
The guild fell into silence, all members staring blankly at the refurbished hall, utterly stunned.
Nervously clutching the hem of her clothes, Laki began to worry. Why wasn't anyone saying anything? Did she not do a good enough job?
Clap!
Just as Laki was getting uneasy, Moen stepped in front of her. Placing both hands on her shoulders, he leaned closer, his face serious.
"Laki Olietta."
Moen called her by name, his tone grave.
"Eh? I—I'm here!"
Seeing Moen act so formally only made Laki more nervous. She quickly responded.
"From this moment... you're officially a member!"
Just when Laki thought she had made a mistake, Moen's expression shifted—his seriousness turned into a bright smile. His cheerful grin, so close at hand, left Laki dazed, to the point that she barely registered what he said.
"OOOOOOHHHH!!!"
"Laki! Laki! Laki!"
As Moen's words landed, the hall erupted into cheers. Guild members howled her name, faces lit up with joy.
"Eh? Eh?!!"
Finally realizing what was happening, Laki's face turned crimson. Overwhelmed by the scene, she clearly had never experienced something like this before.
Still in a daze, she let Moen guide her to the bar counter. In a daze, she chose the color of her guild emblem. And still in a daze, she had it stamped onto her skin. Just like that, it was done.
"Welcome officially to Fairy Tail!"
Moen said with a beaming smile. His words were accompanied by the loud cheers of the guild, everyone clearly overjoyed at Laki's joining.
