Chapter 155 - A Sleeping Corpse

Dydra stared out the carriage window as it slowly rolled to a halt. Not far from the road stood a grand mansion, its windows glowing warmly against the fading daylight. Even from a distance, servants could be seen moving about their duties, preparing for another evening within the noble estate.

‎The sun sank lower beneath the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of orange and violet. The young witch turned her gaze from the window to the nobleman seated across from her.

‎"What do we do now, my lord?"

‎Leonard answered without looking up from the book in his hands. His eyes never left the page.

‎"We wait until nightfall."

‎Dydra nodded, though a sigh escaped her lips.

‎"Trouble is my middle name," she muttered under her breath.

‎Night arrived far quicker than she had expected. The last traces of sunlight vanished, surrendering the world to darkness. The moon hung high above, only to disappear moments later behind a blanket of drifting clouds.
