Dydra closed the door behind her and let out a quiet sigh as she walked over to her bed. The day's work around the castle had left her exhausted. She found herself missing the peaceful days in Bivestone, where she could spend hours doing absolutely nothing without anyone calling her name.
She sat on the edge of the bed and began pulling off her boots when a faint glow caught her attention.
She looked toward the corner of the room.
The concentrate book.
It rested exactly where she had left it, yet a soft golden light seeped from between its pages, growing brighter with each passing moment.
A frown creased her forehead.
After everything she had been through, she wasn't eager to touch it again. The last thing she needed was another mysterious vision, a witch appearing out of nowhere, or some impossible task she never asked for.
Silently, she offered a quick prayer before crossing the room.
The moment her fingers wrapped around the book, it sprang open on its own.
