After the shop owner turned to leave.
Satania frowned slightly at Lin. "Lin, why does this taste just like regular water to me?"
"Is it really that good?"
"Let me try yours."
She looked toward Lin's blended coffee.
Lin had just said it was delicious.
So she wanted to try a bit.
If it really was that good, she'd order one too.
"Go ahead if you don't mind."
Lin handed her the blended coffee.
"Thanks."
Satania smiled happily, thanked him, took Lin's blended coffee, and took a small sip.
"Hmm???"
Her brows furrowed after one sip.
It tasted about the same as hers.
"Not good?"
Lin smiled faintly upon seeing this.
Satania smoothed her brows. "No difference to me."
"Here, back to you."
She returned the coffee to Lin.
Lin took it while pretending to guess. "Satania, are you a supertaster? No, wait—do you have no sense of taste?"
"Huh, no sense of taste?"
Satania blinked in confusion.
A hint of doubt appeared in her eyes.
She seemed not to understand the term.
Lin smiled and explained. "No sense of taste means a defect in perceiving flavors normally."
"I see..."
Satania frowned slightly. "Am I really like that?"
Lin's words made her reflect.
Recalling foods and drinks from childhood to now, they all tasted similar.
She mostly judged by texture.
Like the soft, fluffy texture of pineapple buns, which she loved.
Lin: "Want me to restore your normal sense of taste later?"
"Huh, you can do that?"
Satania blinked in surprise.
Then curiously: "Do you know medicine or something, Lin?"
"You'll find out later."
Lin smiled mysteriously.
"Fine (╯▽╰)."
Though itching with curiosity, since Lin said so, Satania suppressed it.
About ten minutes later.
Lin and Satania paid and left Angel Coffee Shop.
"Welcome back anytime~"
The owner stood at the door with a brilliant smile.
Though addressed to both, his gaze mainly on Lin.
Clearly because Lin chose and praised his blended coffee.
Running the shop was a hobby, so he loved customers like Lin most.
He welcomed ordinary ones too.
But everyone has preferences.
Leaving Angel Coffee Shop.
Lin and Satania entered a nearby small park.
A Concealment Card flashed by.
Concealment power enveloped them.
Satania didn't notice.
The park had few pedestrians, just one family.
Two adults and a child.
After concealment, the family paused briefly but continued playing without thought.
"Why here?"
Satania glanced at the playing family, blinked, and looked at Lin curiously.
Lin smiled. "Didn't I say I'd restore your sense of taste?"
"Here?"
Satania was a bit stunned.
"Yeah."
Lin nodded with a smile.
"How?"
Satania looked up at Lin, eyes full of curiosity.
"With this."
As Lin spoke, a Recovery Card appeared beside him.
"What???!!!"
Satania's eyes widened.
Shock and confusion in her gaze.
"You're not an ordinary human?"
Lin raised an eyebrow. "Didn't I say so before?"
"No way!"
Satania shook her head immediately.
Staring at Lin in shock and curiosity. "I thought you were just a normal human, Lin."
"What are you exactly?"
Lin smiled faintly. "I have many identities. For now, think of me as an esper."
"Esper..."
Satania pondered thoughtfully.
Lin said many identities.
What else, then?
Curiosity stirred in her.
Lin smiled. "We'll talk later. First, restoring your taste."
"Okay..."
Satania nodded.
Unsure if Sky Magic could heal congenital taste defects, Lin used the Recovery Card directly.
Borrowing conceptual recovery power.
The Recovery Card glowed faintly.
An invisible recovery force, under Lin's intent, wrapped Satania's tongue.
Spreading to all taste nerves.
"Hm?!"
Feeling the subtle change in her tongue and taste, Satania's eyes lit up. Her tongue moved involuntarily.
She licked her lips lightly.
"Should be good now."
Lin stored the Recovery Card.
Smiling at Satania. "Let's go buy some food to test it."
"Yeah, let's go!"
Satania looked expectant.
If cured, she could taste flavors like others.
About twenty minutes later.
Lin and Satania entered a shopping street in Itabashi Ward.
"Bread aroma!"
Soon after entering, Satania sniffed.
Her sense of smell sharper too.
Expectantly to Lin: "Shall we check it out?"
"Sure."
Lin nodded with a smile.
They entered a bread shop ten meters away.
Display case full of breads.
Milk soft bread; caterpillar bread;
Taro paste mochi pork floss toast;
Red bean toast; shiitake bun;
Pineapple bread; sausage fancy bread;
About a dozen flavors.
Breathing the unique bakery scent, Satania swallowed, appetite rising.
She wanted to try now.
Heart moved, act.
To Lin: "Lin, can you grab some? I want a bit of each."
"Sure."
They shopped.
One of each.
Minimal portions.
Many kinds at once.
Over half an hour passed. Lin and Satania exited a beverage shop on the street, both smiling.
Especially Satania.
After half an hour of testing, she marveled at her past decade-plus life.
Sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, salty, umami.
So many flavors, yet she'd felt none.
"Thanks, Lin."
Satania grateful.
Lin smiled faintly. "No problem, we're friends."
"Yeah, friends..."
Satania nodded smiling.
But her gaze at Lin shifted subtly.
They left the street together.
Just outside.
"Eh, that's..."
Satania spotted two familiar figures, eyes flickering, expression changing slightly.
Lin followed her gaze.
Two beautiful girls in view.
