Chapter 199 - Chapter 199: Journey to Alola

And so, they became friends…

"So you just went ahead and caught it?""Awesome!"Yozora could only sigh in admiration.

Red—this guy, the more casually he said things, the more outrageous they sounded…

This was a Dragonite!A noble existence once said to rival Legendary Pokémon themselves!

"How about it, Yozora? We haven't seen each other in a while—want to have a battle?" Red smiled as he rested one hand on his Poliwrath's head.

Yozora shook his head. "Better not. The Indigo Plateau Conference is in two months. Let's settle things then."

"Fair enough."

Red nodded, then walked away with his team.

In this world, Red was a man of few words—cold on the outside, warm within. His passion only showed when it came to matters concerning Pokémon.

"Yozora, only two months remain. Where do you plan to train until then?" Professor Oak asked.

"Taige Town," Yozora replied. "I've already apprenticed under Master Tyron."

Professor Oak was momentarily surprised before nodding. "I see. Master Tyron is indeed a formidable figure. If you manage to awaken the Mind's Eye, whether in academia or as a Trainer, your achievements will be extraordinary."

Professor Oak himself had already awakened the Mind's Eye, granting him immense willpower, mental strength, and concentration. For such people, success came more easily in any endeavor.

This world had many strong individuals, and many had awakened the Mind's Eye—not only those under Master Tyron's school of thought.

The best basketball players aren't always the best basketball coaches.

Master Tyron followed the path of martial arts. In the field of the Mind's Eye, he was a master among masters, developing a complete training system.

"But before that, I plan to make a trip to Alola," Yozora said suddenly.

"Alola?" Professor Oak raised his brows.

"Yes."

Yozora nodded, not elaborating further.

His goal in Alola was simple: to hunt down Mudbray and Mudsdale and stockpile reserves of the Stamina Ability.

[Stamina]: Pokémon with this Ability have immense endurance. Every time they are struck by an opponent, their Defense rises one stage (a 30% increase).

Stamina was arguably one of the best defensive Abilities—and easily obtainable.

Mudbray and Mudsdale were common in Alola. About half of them possessed Stamina, making them easy to acquire.

And it wasn't just Machamp—most warrior-type Pokémon could benefit greatly from Stamina. Boosted defenses meant greater durability and staying power. They could become sturdy tanks—tough, hard-hitting, and difficult to take down!

Of course, frailer Pokémon wouldn't see much benefit, since their base Defense was too low.

Take Beedrill and Dragonite, for example.

Beedrill was a classic glass-cannon assassin. If its base Defense was around 40, then even with a 30% Stamina boost, it would rise to just about 52. Still fragile—barely able to withstand anything.

But Dragonite…

If Beedrill's base Defense was 40, Dragonite's base Defense was easily 100. Already tough.

Once Stamina was triggered, a 30% increase meant its Defense would soar to an incredible 130! At the same level, most ordinary Pokémon wouldn't even be able to scratch it. Practically invincible!

The higher the base, the greater the gains. That was absolute.

And Dragonite, being a pseudo-legendary species, had naturally high base stats across the board. Any kind of boost meant tremendous returns.

This was the power of species—and why Dragonite was so immensely strong and beloved.

Yozora spent one night at home. The next morning, he boarded a flight bound for the Alola Region.

By that evening, he landed safely in Alola.

Almost as if to mark his arrival, a spatial rift suddenly split open above the airport. From it descended a massive, red, humanoid insect.

An Ultra Beast—Buzzwole!

Buzzwole's frame was monstrous, standing 2.4 meters tall, muscles bulging across its blood-red body.

It had wings, stood on four limbs, and bore a proboscis hard as diamond.

Like a mosquito, it used that silver-white, diamond-hard proboscis to pierce into humans or Pokémon, siphoning away their energy!

Ultra Beasts came from Ultra Space, meaning they were not native to the Pokémon world.

In Ultra Space, they were common. But once they crossed into this world, each one was like a monster—matching even Legendary Pokémon in might.

There was no doubt—Ultra Beasts rivaled Legendaries, standing as Legendary-tier species.

"Wah—it's an Ultra Beast! Run for your lives!"

As Buzzwole dove, panic swept the airport. People scattered in terror.

Yet, some Trainers remained behind, their eyes blazing with excitement.

Ultra Beasts were still shrouded in mystery, but there was no question—they had the strength of Legends! Capture one, and your power would skyrocket.

"Go, Venusaur!"

"Go, Ursaring!"

"Go, Pangoro!"

"Go, Sceptile!"

All around, Trainers hurled Poké Balls, sending forth their trusted partners to confront the descending Buzzwole.

Razor Leaf, Hyper Beam, Flamethrower, Water Gun, Bullet Seed—A storm of attacks tore through the air toward the beast.

But—

With a single beat of its wings, Buzzwole blurred, dodging them all. Then it dove, punching Pokémon left and right, felling them like grass under a scythe.

[Buzzwole] (Bug/Fighting): Peak Gym Leader Level, Tier 3 Legendary potential.

"What strength…" Yozora read its stats through his system as Buzzwole nonchalantly drove its proboscis into an Ursaring's body.

Moments later—

The Ursaring shriveled, its life force drained away.

And Buzzwole visibly grew bulkier.

Clicking his tongue, Yozora thought, As expected of an Ultra Beast—its absorption rate is terrifying.

"This one's worth catching. If I get it, my power will soar!" He was just about to send out Beedrill when—

Buzzwole, satisfied, spread its wings and flew off.

"Ahhh! My Ursaring!" The Trainer cried, staring in despair at his collapsed partner—shrunk, lifeless, its breath barely detectable.

That Ursaring was done for.

Ultra Beasts had no attachment to this world. They wandered through out of boredom, feeding as they pleased.
