Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Should I punish...or not?

Kinh Uyen's hand gripped my wrist tightly. At first, it was just a normal grip, but very quickly, it became so tight that it made my skin red and sore.

I took a small breath, pursed my lips, then couldn't bear it and let out a pitiful "ah..." sound.

That weak sound fell straight into Giang Vu Than's ears.

His eyes darkened slightly, his voice carried a bit of suppressed anger:

"You're hurting her."

Before I could react, Vu Than had already let go of my hand, afraid of accidentally injuring me more. But Kinh Uyen remained motionless.

His eyes were cold, so deep that it was impossible to guess what he was thinking. He still held my hand, his hand was big, but like a layer of invisible chains wrapped around it.

As soon as Vu Than let go, I thought he would let go too, but he didn't.

On the contrary, he only loosened his grip a little, then his slender fingers moved slightly, rubbing lightly on my wrist, as if to comfort me, but also as if… intentionally making me uneasy.

That light caress startled me. I tried to pull my hand away, but the more I did, the more his force increased, not strong enough to hurt, but enough to make me unable to escape.

The surrounding air seemed to thicken.

Vu Than frowned, his voice became colder:

"Hey, I'm talking to you. Let her go."

He still didn't move.

Kinh Uyen's eyes tilted, glancing at Vu Than once, that look only lasted a second, but made the person opposite's back feel like it was covered in a layer of cold frost. Not because he was angry, but because in that look… there was no emotion. Empty, soulless, as if the other person wasn't worth his attention.

I looked up and saw Kinh Uyen's face, a little scared and trembling, my voice was timid, trying to speak:

"Kinh... Kinh Uyen... let go of my hand... I... it hurts so much."

As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly let go of my hand.

Resolutely.

He looked at me, his deep black eyes flashed with a cold, unpredictable light.

"...If that's what the young master wants."

His voice was so low and calm that it made my heart tighten slightly.

I rubbed my wrist, there was still a faint red mark there, feeling frustrated but I couldn't tell if I was angry because of the pain... or because of his indifference.

I lowered my head, avoiding his gaze, trying to act normal:

"Okay... I'll go out with Vu Than for a bit. You stay home."

Not waiting for him to reply, I quickly pulled Vu Than's hand away, almost running away.

When the door closed, my heart was still pounding, my breathing was chaotic. I glanced out the car window, saw Kinh Uyen's figure standing in the yard, tall and straight, his eyes following as if penetrating the air, making me shiver involuntarily.

No one said anything during the entire journey.

The air in the car was thick as if with just one word, something would explode.

Until Vu Than spoke, his voice hoarse:

"Are you afraid of him?"

I was startled for a moment, then forced a smile:

"No... it's just... I don't understand what he's thinking."

Vu Than sighed, rubbed the bridge of his nose, his eyes slightly darkened:

"I understand. That guy has a problem. It feels like... he's hiding something very dangerous."

I was silent, didn't answer, just nodded slightly.

Vu Than looked at me, his eyes softened, his voice became softer:

"Okay, forget it. Just don't let that guy do whatever he wants."

He reached out to stroke my head, a simple action but it made me a little stunned.

That feeling… was not like Kinh Uyen.

If Kinh Uyen made my heart beat fast because of fear and love? Then Vu Than made my heart feel a little warm like an older brother protecting me.

I lowered my eyes and said softly:

"Where are you taking me?"

He smiled and his voice was gentle:

"To a place you will like."

After a long distance, the car stopped.

Vu Than got out first, walked around to open the door for me, and even carefully raised his hand to block the car frame, afraid that I would hit my head.

As soon as I got out, he suddenly raised his hand to cover my eyes.

"Eh… what are you doing?" I asked, my voice confused.

"Shhh." Wu Shen chuckled softly, his voice as light as the wind. "Don't open your eyes. Let me lead you."

His hand held mine, leading me through the small stone path.

Each step was slow and peaceful, only the sound of the wind blowing and each other's breathing could be heard.

When he said "okay, open your eyes", I did as he was told and was stunned.

In front of me was a garden lit with yellow lights, lush green trees, in the middle of which was a white cat lying obediently in a rattan basket.

I cheered, hugged the cat to my chest, rubbed my face against the soft fur, and smiled brightly.

Wu Shen stood beside me, his eyes gentle:

"Do you like it?"

I nodded repeatedly:

"I like it very much!"

He chuckled, patted my head, and said softly:

"It's good that you like it."

I smiled, hugged the cat, not knowing that this gift, he had originally planned to give it yesterday.

It's just... yesterday, everything was broken by someone else.

And now, that person is sitting in the dark house, his eyes indifferently looking into space.

His fingers lightly tapped on the table countless times..

His voice echoed softly in the silent room, as light as a breath but still made people suffocate:

"Little brat... really naughty... should I punish him or not?"
