Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Broken Promise.. ?

The house was dark, with only the yellow light coming from the hallway. I held the white cat in my arms, and as soon as I entered, I felt a chill down my spine, not knowing why, the atmosphere here was... completely different.

The ticking of the wall clock, ticking, ticking... each beat seemed to hit my heart.

I called softly, my voice trembling slightly, a bit timid:

"Kinh... Kinh Uyen?"

There was no response, I saw that and swallowed a cold breath but still walked upstairs, as I pushed the door open, my breath caught. In the room, Kinh Uyen was actually... sitting in there?!

The pale yellow light shone down on half of Kinh Uyen's face, half bright, half dark, just like someone who never let anyone see him completely. His eyes were downcast, his fingers gently tapped evenly on the table, knock... knock..., the sound was small but it was annoyingly loud.

I stood there, my whole body stiffened by the oppressive feeling that Kinh Uyen brought, my fingers tightly gripping the cat in my arms, stammering:

"You… why are you here?"

Kinh Uyen did not answer. He only opened his eyes, looking at me with that gaze like a cold knife sliding through my skin, so sharp that I did not dare to breathe too hard.

A moment later, he stood up.

The chair creaked slightly, the sound of shoes hitting the floor with each heavy beat. The closer I walked, the more my heart tightened.

When he stopped in front of me, his cold breath blew on my neck, so close that I could feel the faint pheromone scent lingering around him.

Kinh Uyen stood there looking down at my slightly timid and fearful face, speaking hoarsely:

"That cat… belongs to whom?"

I bowed my head, my voice as small as a breeze:

"It's… it's from Vu Than, he gave it to me…"

At that moment, the atmosphere in the room seemed to gather. My wrist was tightly held by him, not too strong, but enough to make me moan softly.

Kinh Uyen leaned down, his eyes locked on me:

"Young master, have you forgotten? Didn't you…you said you would listen to me…"

My breathing was a little rapid, my heart was racing. He spoke softly, but there was something that made me unable to resist, a little subdued and submit…

My voice trembled, stuttering a little, avoiding Kinh Uyen's words:

"I…I still remember you…you speak as if I broke my promise to…to you…"

Kinh Uyen chuckled softly. It was unclear whether it was a happy or cold smile, but it made my spine shiver.

Kinh Uyen tilted his head and lowered his voice:

"If the young master said to listen but couldn't do it… then he must be punished. Right?"

The question didn't need to be answered, because I automatically nodded.

His hand let go of my wrist, then lifted my chin, his thumb lightly brushing my lips. My skin was burning hot, but his voice was as cold as the night wind:

"Good boy."

He paused for a moment, then leaned close to my ear, whispering, each word seemed to be deep:

"I have something to do these few days so I won't be here… but when I come back, I don't want to see you with that Vu Than anymore. Okay?"

I stiffened and looked into Kinh Uyen's eyes, dark as an abyss, so deep that it swallowed all my resistance. I could only lower my head in a bit of fear, and softly replied:

"I… I know."

I thought to myself: "He... is really scary today.."

Kinh Uyen's lips curved into a faint smile, his voice soft but cold:

"Young master is so good... being obedient like this is good.."

He gently stroked my cheek, his gaze as if he was admiring something that belonged to him.

Then Kinh Uyen glanced down, his voice lowered:

"And that cat... do you love it that much, young master?"

I was a bit stunned, then seemed to realize Kinh Uyen's intention, so I hugged the cat tightly in my arms, unconsciously taking half a step back, my voice was a bit timid because of fear but no less determined to say:

"I... I only like the cat, I don't have any other intentions..."

Kinh Uyen tilted his head slightly, his eyes softened, but that gentleness was more frightening than anger.

Kinh Uyen smiled faintly and replied:

"I didn't say you meant anything… I just wanted to look. Let me touch it a little, okay?"

His voice was soft and gentle, but I knew it wasn't a question.

I had no choice but to hold out the cat. He gently placed his hand on it, stroking its white fur, his eyes leaving it and looking straight at me.

Kinh Uyen spoke slowly, his fingers rubbing along my hand

"It's beautiful. But… I don't like anything else touching you, even if it's inanimate."

I paused a bit, slightly frowning with some doubt at Kinh Uyen's words, thinking to myself: "He… is that… too controlling?" I thought so, but in front of Kinh Uyen, I didn't dare to say it.

Kinh Uyen looked at my expression like that and smiled a calculating smile, then let go of my hand and said softly:

"Good night, young master."

The door closed. The air in the room was still thick, as if someone was strangling me. I sat down on the bed, still holding the cat tightly, my heart was troubled and I didn't understand why this feeling was both scary… and made me feel like I wanted to… but couldn't escape…? I sat there looking at the direction Kinh Uyen had just left, my heart felt heavy as if a rock was pressing down on me…

A few days later when Kinh Uyen turned on his phone, looking at the message sent on the screen, the picture of me and Vu Than walking together, a happy smile appeared on my facesmiling in front of Vu Than was completely different from my timid appearance with him that day, causing him to gently squeeze the phone, his eyes slightly darkened.

The light reflected in his eyes was so cold that it seemed like it could freeze the air.

Kinh Uyen smiled, his voice low and a little angry:

"Young master…you actually broke your promise…"
