The corner wasn't hostile - it just felt curious. Kori had braced herself for hostility, but it wasn't that. It felt like curiosity - the way a room full of people who knew everyone had just realized they didn't know one of the faces in it. The warmth was still there, riding on Lay's say-so, but underneath it ran a low current of question. Heads tilted. A few of the harder ones looked Kori over carefully, taking in the grey coat, the tired posture, the way she held her bandaged hand a little close. Somebody near the back muttered something to a neighbor, and the neighbor shrugged.
