Raizen went still.
"Osamu and I both. Two Phalanx, and it ended in something I'm generously calling a draw." Kori continued, looking at her bandaged hand. "I've fought everything this world produces, Raizen. Nyxes of every class. People. Individuals that are closer to monsters than a sane person. In twenty years, there hasn't been an opponent I couldn't read - couldn't see, the way I see. But she simply doesn't exist to my eye - no signature at all. I spent the whole fight aiming at a blind spot shaped like a person."
The glass had gone forgotten in his hand.
"And then she came here," Kori said. "Straight from the fight. Sat on my roof, metres from all four of you, bleeding through her bandages and chatting. And the only reason that ended with everyone breathing is that she decided it would."
