Not even a minute later, Raizen got his answer, but not from the person he asked.
He dropped onto the bench beside Lynea and Ichiro, and before Ichiro could open his mouth, Lynea leaned sideways and put one arm around Raizen in a stiff, careful, entirely unexpected side-hug.
Raizen froze solid.
The hug was — clumsy is the kind word. Her arm landed at a strange angle across his shoulders, her elbow was somehow involved, the whole thing was executed with the mechanical deliberateness of someone performing a maneuver from written instructions. It lasted about two seconds too long because she clearly wasn't sure when hugs were supposed to end. Then she let go, sat back, saw his face, and turned a shade of red that started at her ears and spread.
"I — that was —" She stared straight ahead at the field. "Feris told me. That this is how you greet people that – um - when you haven't seen them in a while. She said it was normal."
