Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: Experiment

As Lukas stared at the miniature tornado forming from Larry's spinning body, he felt utterly powerless. The air around him howled like a beast; debris whipped through the air as the miny tornado began to move faster—faster—until it finally reached him.

The impact was like being struck by a thousand blades. As the tiny tornado engulfed him, deep cuts began appearing all over his body—across his stomach, his legs, his back—each wound tearing open and gushing blood. Lukas screamed, but his voice was drowned out by the roaring winds. He was still being shredded alive until Larry finally stopped spinning and jumped several meters away, landing lightly like nothing had happened.

Lukas was breathing fast blood dripping onto the dirt. His thoughts were chaotic. What… what's going on? How am I… still alive from these wounds?

Then a figure appeared—a man wearing a red hood.It was Mr. A.

He smiled, his expression a mix of amusement and cruelty."Well," he said with a devilish grin, "how do you feel? Do you feel pain? Do you wonder why you're still alive?"

Lukas glared up at him, trembling."Why are you doing this to me, you psychopath! And what the hell did you do to my body?"

Mr. A's grin widened unnaturally."For the second time," he said mockingly, "I'm not a psychopath. I'm simply a devoted servant of our magnificent Lord. As for your second question…"—he crouched beside lukas—"while you were asleep, we implanted something special inside you. Something that will keep you alive… until it's destroyed or taken out."

Hearing that, Lukas's pupils constricted. "W… why are you doing this?" he asked weakly, voice shaking.

Mr. A chuckled, a chilling sound that echoed through the clearing."Well, my dear Arthur, it's simple. We do this for fun. Because we can." He straightened up, his shadow falling over Lukas's mangled body. "And if you think this is over…"—he leaned closer—"…you're very wrong."

Before Lukas could react, Mr. A grabbed his right arm and ripped it off with ease. Blood sprayed across the ground as Lukas screamed in agony. Mr. A tossed the arm to Larry, who caught it midair and swallowed it whole.

Then, before Lukas could even process what had happened, Mr. A appeared behind him like a shadow and struck the back of his neck. Everything went dark.

When Lukas opened his eyes again, he was in a pitch-black room. The air was damp and cold, carrying the scent of blood and rust. He tried to move, but his limbs wouldn't respond—he was bound tightly to something, cold biting into his wrists and ankles. Something covered his mouth, muffling his breathing. He realized, with a sudden wave of horror, that he was completely naked.

"Mmphhh…" he tried to cry out, but only muffled sounds came out.

He struggled against his restraints, the chains clinking softly in the dark. But no matter how hard he pulled, nothing gave way.

Then—footsteps echoing against the floor.

A door creaked open, and pale light spilled into the room. A man stepped inside, wearing a long coat splattered with stains—some fresh, some old. His smile was calm, almost friendly.

"Hi there, experimentation subject," the man said cheerfully. "I'll be your doctor for today."

He approached Lukas and removed the thing that covered his mouth.

As soon as Lukas could speak, he blurted out, "What are you gonna do to me!?"

The man's smile widened. "Oh, my dear experimentation subject, I'm going to perform a few tests. See what happens when I push your body past its limits. If you survive—perfect! I'll have created a masterpiece. If you die—well, then you're just a failure." He tilted his head thoughtfully. "But don't worry, you probably won't die. That thing inside you will keep you alive. Unless, of course…"—his grin turned dark—"…I accidentally take it out."

Overwhelming fear gripped Lukas's chest. His body trembled uncontrollably. "What kind of experiments are you going to do?"

The man laughed, a wild, high-pitched sound. "Oh, maybe I'll replace your organs. Or maybe I'll shove some Beyonder characteristics into you. Who knows? We'll just have to see what happens."

He gestured to the series of tubes connected to Lukas's body. "Ah, and these," he said, plucking one free and holding it up to the dim light, "will keep you forcibly conscious. You won't be able to pass out from pain. Isn't that wonderful?" He laughed again, eyes glittering. "Ah, if only my Lord were here to witness this! He'd be so pleased with me!"

He reattached the tube, then fastened the thing back over Lukas's mouth.

"Mmphhh!" Lukas screamed into the thing wiggling weakly. But his bonds didn't even creak.

Then he saw something that scared him.The man picked up a knife its blade gleaming dully and pressed it to Lukas's abdomen.

Without hesitation, he began cutting him open.

The pain was indescribable. Lukas's body jerked violently as the blade sliced through flesh and muscle, climbing from his stomach up to his chest. Blood flowed freely down his sides, staining the table beneath him.

"Mphhh! MPPHHH!" Lukas screamed, eyes wide, tears streaming down his face.

The man his voice calm and almost bored said, "Hey, are you all right? You look like you're in pain. Why do I even ask? Of course you are!" He laughed, pressing the knife closer to Lukas's face, drawing a thin line of blood down his cheek. "Don't worry," he said, "you'll get used to it."

When he finished cutting, he set the knife down and slipped on something. Then, with deliberate slowness, he reached inside Lukas's open torso.

Lukas could feel everything.

After several seconds, the man withdrew his hand—holding something wet and dark red.

"Ah," he said casually, examining it. "Is this… your liver? Hm. Too bad. We'll have to replace it. Hahahaha! You look like you're in intense pain—don't worry, it'll disappear soon enough."

He tossed the organ onto the ground with a wet thud.

Then he reached inside again. After another minute, he pulled out something else—two pale, spongy masses.

"Ah, your lungs!" he said gleefully, bringing them close to Lukas's face. "Say goodbye to them! They've served you well!"

Tears streamed freely down Lukas's cheeks now.

Ten minutes passed. The floor was littered with organs—lungs, liver, kidneys, intestines. The man stood back, breathing heavily, admiring his work.

"Oops," he said suddenly, scratching his head. "I think I forgot to bring the replacements. My bad."

He looked down at Lukas, whose breathing was shallow and ragged."Oh, don't worry," he said cheerfully. "We're not replacing your heart—at least not yet. You'll live. "

He pulled up a chair and sat beside the blood-soaked table, smiling pleasantly."Well," he said, "since we have some time before the new organs arrive—should be about thirty minutes or so—why don't we talk? I like getting to know my subjects. For example, how's your day going? Mine's been wonderful!" He laughed again, wiping a streak of blood from his cheek. "Oh, silly me! I forgot to introduce myself. My name's Dexter."

He leaned forward, his grin stretching far too wide."And don't you worry" he whispered softly. "By the time I'm done with you… you'll be something magnificent."
