Arthur stepped into the special op's division HQ; He waved at his fellow comrades and headed towards his office. He entered the room and sat down on the chair. After a few moments, he sighed and turned on the TV on the other side of the room.
'I heard Rome is in a dilemma…let's see…'
He switched to a roman news outlet where he was greeted by its opening sequence. A bright young man opened the segment with a big smile. As footage played behind him, he adjusted his posture.
"Breaking news! Deputy commissioner of the roman police force who was murdered at midnight, last Tuesday. The lieutenant general of the black ops himself has investigated the case, and we have received news of a potential lead."
Arthur leaned back in his chair, an amusing smile appearing on his face.
"Missio is taking care of this…" He muttered under his breath.
The reporter continued speaking as the image of a red blur appeared behind him.
"The first unit believes that this black-hooded figure was responsible for the murder. If you have seen any sightings of suspicious individuals wearing these outfit, call this number at once!"
Arthur's breath hitched. The black blur on-screen — familiar. Too familiar. His hands clenched on the armrests. Without thinking, he grabbed his phone and dialed Missio's number.
***
Missio was sitting in his office. He calmly rocked his chair while listening to music. Suddenly, he heard his phone ring. He pulled it out and saw it was Arthur. He raised an eyebrow and picked up the call, placing it on his ear.
"What's up?" Missio said.
"Nothing." Arthur replied.
"Everything fine over there?" Missio inquired in a tired voice.
"Dude…you're the one who caused a crisis. Do you think we're okay?" Arthur replied.
"Yeah…I'm extremely sorry about that like…really sorry." Missio replied.
"It's fine. I've gotten over it. Anyways, I was calling about that black blur in footage you found." Arthur groaned.
Missio tensed up. "What about it?"
"Well…some of those guys came to visit me, offering the AEOC some help. I rejected them of course but I have been doing some digging on their 'organization'." Arthur said.
Missio perked up. "Yeah? What did you get?"
Arthur chuckled. "We checked their company and even though…they were a bit shady when I met them. They check out as completely normal. We checked all the executive's backgrounds and the establishment date and all their certificates…everything checks out."
Missio took a deep breath, "Did you find anything? Like anything that's suspicious?"
"No…" Arthur replied, his voice suddenly low. "It's just that…it felt too normal…"
Missio frowned. "What do you mean? What was too normal?"
"Well…it felt like everything was ordered to check off as normal but…it somehow felt mocking." Arthur replied in a hoarse tone.
"Now, prideful prince. How would you of all people Not feel mocked?" Missio replied in an annoyed tone.
Arthur sighed. "No, it wasn't my blood…It felt like they were mocking me for not being able to find their secret. Even while being a top-officer."
"Yeah…Where was the company located?" Missio asked, in a tired voice.
"They're located mainly in Kharagen." Arthur said.
"Alright, If I start an investigation, I'll tell you, next time." Missio replied.
"No problem." Arthur replied.
Missio cut the call. Not even getting a second to rest, his phone rang again. Mary was calling him this time. Missio groaned and picked up the call.
"Hello?" Missio said.
"Yeah, Missio. You need to get here, fast." Mary replied.
"…Do I really need to?" Missio questioned.
"Yes, we've found some evidence." Mary said through the call.
"Fine…I'll be there in 10 minutes." Missio stood up from his chair.
***
Mary waited anxiously at the crime scene. She held a business card in her hand. It felt new in her trembling hands. After a while, she saw Missio on his bike pull up to the HQ. He got off, put his helmet on the handle. He stepped inside and a few minutes later he was with Mary.
"What did you find?" Missio scowled.
Mary handed him the business card in silence. Missio shrugged, picking it up and reading the company's name. He raised a brow and his mouth twitched slightly. He lowered the card and looked at Mary.
"Is this a joke?" Missio frowned.
Mary shook her head.
"We found in one of the books. I think we should investigate this company." Mary replied.
Missio looked back at the card. The name of an infamous law firm written across it. This particular one was known for its justice driven approach. Missio couldn't believe their business card was placed at the crime scene but how?
The killer had clearly only appeared for a fraction a second but how had he planted these notes and a card in the books of the shelf when he hadn't even entered the room? No footprints or fingerprints were found.
'Even though it's impossible…I gonna have to give them a call. We must do everything to figure out this mystery of the murder of the deputy general…'
Missio sighed. He placed the business card in his pocket and said to Mary in a hoarse tone.
"Listen, did you clear this entire room?"
"Yes, we did." Mary replied.
"Okay, then…wait for a bit while I call the law firm." Missio turned around.
Missio stepped out of the crime scene. He went downstairs and sat down on a couch. He pulled out his phone and dialed the number. After a few moments, the call picked up.
"Hello, this is the Justitia scale law firm, what are you calling for?"
"Good morning, this is Missio Augustus, the Lieutenant general of the black ops division."
The call went silent for a while. A few moments later, the caller stuttered in an awkward tone.
"Oh, sir Missio. Have you gotten yourself in trouble perhaps?"
"No, I want you to connect me to your manager."
"R-right away, sir." The man replied.
The call was static for a few minutes before another man picked up.
"Hello, sir Missio. I'm Julius, I'm the manager of Justitia scale law firm. How can I be of help today?" Julius stated.
"Well…Julius. We need to investigate your law firm for the case of the deputy general's death. Do you mind if I send a couple enforces over there?" Missio asked in a kind tone.
"W-Wait what? Our law firm for an investigation? You must be mistaken, sir." Julius replied.
