Chapter 3 - The Immotrals

Joren halted and whirled around to find some human-like creatures observing the carcasses.

"Was such a soul present in the gloom world to finish off a monster with a single blow?"

One of the creatures said he had black hair and white eyes, and his skin was pale.

Rubbing his chin, affecting a disbelieving look, all of them turned to the human who had done this.

Joren was far away, and yet both he and they could see each other as if they were standing next to each other.

One of the creatures hit his own palm and excitedly muttered.

"Should we recruit him? There's nothing wrong with bringing a strong stranger on the boat."

One of the other creatures sighed, irritated by the childish smile on his brother's face.

"We must subdue him before we take him. I find him a vile beast."

Before they could utter another word, a sword came thrusting at them. If they weren't quick to react, they would have been destroyed to bits.

The destruction they had seen with their own eyes made them wonder who this human was. They were baffled by the strength, but also it ignited their desire to bring him with them.

"We will get a fine reward from the clan leader this time." Said the oldest of them.

They were five siblings, each more beautiful than the other and fiercer the younger they were. Pulling out their weapons from the loose sleeves.

The weapons were blades connected with long chains that were conned with somewhere within those sleeves.

"Back off, he's mine!" said the youngest, motioning to Joren.

"No, he's mine! I saw him first." The middle one said.

All of them began to quarrel with each other.

Joren stared at them; somehow, he was able to comprehend everything they were saying. Joren did think of asking them what place this was, after subduing them himself.

However, it wouldn't be needed.

'They are too noisy and talk way too much.'

He slashed the air. For a short amount of time, nothing happened. The siblings ignored him, however, soon enough. One of them was cut in half by the invisible blade.

"Youngest!" shouted the oldest, his eyes wide open.

With the sudden shift of their gaze towards Joren, anger erupted within them. With emotions blinding them, they charged at Joren without thinking much.

However, among the four there was one with the finest wits and it was the oldest.

"Stop! You will get yourselves killed."

He had observed the power of the foe and Joren shouldn't be taken lightly. Without a proper plan in action, there was no way they would win against whoever this malicious and eccentric human was.

However, the other three were heedless as they charged.

Joren was unruffled; the creatures posed him no threat. He liked that he would have to deal with them all at once.

'Come'

His blade slashed the air; the three siblings were far away and yet they could feel it. As if their bodies were being cut into many pieces.

"AAAHHHH"

"ARGGHHH"

Two of the creatures were down, their limbs flung away and the entrails out of their chest and guts. They shouted before gasping for air; even though they were dying, they laughed.

And strange enough, they were up again. Their bodies were healed as the limbs reattached to the body and entrails returned to their respective positions.

Not only them, but the youngest was up again.

"You thought you could kill us? We are immortals!" The middle one was giving Joren a cocky look.

"There's no way for a gloomer to kill us! HAHAHA, the price will be ours!"

Joren was dumbfounded. He had seen some sort of resurrection; he slashed them again and they died but they were up again.

He couldn't believe it. What was this? Is this the world of gods? since they were considered immortals. But Joren never believed in such a concept.

After spending so long in the dark void, he knew exactly what God was and understood what these creatures were. Not God for certain but they did have immortality of some kind.

This time, he was the sibling who turned to strike.

Unlike the bears, they were swift and agile; their every movement was well calculated. Mostly their combined strikes with the blades.

"He's good. Youngest, stop being a lazy one and actually attack him!" the second elder brother shouted.

"I'm doing it but he's fast."

Joren was evading the attack without putting any effort into it. While doing so, he was also killing them repeatedly.

The siblings were frustrated and annoyed. They were unable to land as a single cut on Joren's body. Instead of taking him alive, they thought about directly killing him.

If they were trying to kill Joren. Joren was also trying to figure out how he could end them. For him, he believed in the possibility, and there was no way these creatures couldn't die.

'There's also a possibility for everything within a balanced world.'

Joren didn't find this world divine heaven or something; he found it more… balanced world like the human world.

"Hey, Oldest! Why aren't you helping us?" The third sibling angrily bellowed at him.

However, the oldest was stiff in his place; he wasn't sure if he was seeing it right or not. The human before him was not a gloomer; rather, he seemed an exotic being with strange energy swathed him.

"Screw him; that craven is out of his mind. I will get rewarded alone anyway." The youngest said.

"And this *ss guy, why don't you stop moving! We will give you everything you need: power and wealth of the world. We will take you to the higher world; just stop dodging."

The power and wealth they spoke of—to Joren, he wasn't sure what this could be. Maybe it was the same as humans had, but still the system of power and wealth with greed worked all the same here.

Finally, after pondering, he found it. A way to kill them.

Seeing the human standing silently, the siblings thought the human had succumbed to their offering.

But that wasn't the case.

Joren thrust his sword and pierced one of the sibling's chest before dashing back, creating a distance between them.

"It's no use, you dimwit; you can't kill us," the proud and confident youngest said.

Their confidence sagged when they saw the second oldest didn't get up from the ground. He wasn't showing any signs of motion.

"Stop pretending and get up."

Still, he wasn't moving.

Feeling uneasy, the siblings turned to the human and demanded an answer.

"What have you done to our brother?"

After a short silence, Joren opened his mouth; his voice was cold with no emotions to express.

"I killed him."
