CHAPTER 105 – ALORA
I saw her again today.
I wasn't supposed to. I was at the hospital for my monthly checkup nothing serious, just my usual dramatics checkups. But then I heard laughter. Soft, warm, gentle. The kind of laugh that fills a room without trying.
It was her.
Rina Hale.
She stood near the reception, speaking to the nurse with that same calm voice I remember. Her hair was tied loosely, her skin glowing in that effortless way that always made my chest burn. Two little girls stood beside her, holding her hands, giggling like sunshine itself.
The twins.
The beggers daughters.
For a moment, I froze every breath in my lungs turning to ice. I thought I'd buried that part of my past, that name, that story. But seeing her… it was like watching the wound open again, bleeding through the bandages I'd spent years pretending existed.
She looked… happy. Peaceful. As if the world had chosen her for light while it kept me for darkness.
