Chapter 185 - Chapter 185 Arcane Gem

The instant transformation, from land to sea, was enough to deeply shock everyone.

The allied soldiers stared at the suddenly appearing ocean, unable to recover for a long time.

Gale was also quite depressed, but he quickly let go.

He had tried hard enough, and if he still couldn't change the outcome, he had done all he could with a clear conscience.

Soon, the sea surface gradually calmed down. Where the Well of Eternity once was, a massive whirlpool now spun.

Using the force of its rotation, the seawater continuously crashed against the cliffs protected by energy.

In the seawater, many Kaldorei survivors were floating.

"Luna, begin the rescue!"

Gale snapped back to reality and immediately told Luna to rescue these survivors.

The Dragon Legion, after Smaug took flight, also reacted and automatically joined the rescue team. These Kaldorei survivors might not be good people, but for the sparsely populated Kaldorei, these individuals still held high utilitarian value.

Gale looked at the Red Dragon Queen. After Deathwing's betrayal, Alexstrasza became the supreme leader of the Dragon Legion.

"Your Grace, after the rescue is complete, please have the Dragon Legion assess the extent of the disaster."

"That is our duty," Alexstrasza said. "It is very dangerous here; it would be best for the allied forces to withdraw as soon as possible."

Gale looked at the half of the city that was still standing and nodded, "There are still many valuable things here. We will withdraw once they have all been collected."

Sin'dorei was a city of magic, inhabited by at least seven or eight thousand Mages, if not ten thousand. However, not all Mages could own their Mage Towers, and the remaining Mages were not all apprentice Mages of Mage Towers.

Large numbers of low-level Mages resided throughout Sin'dorei, in addition to shops selling magical items. Even after being plundered by demons, many good things could still be found.

Gale had Carlos lead the Alpha Squad to "settle" the survivors, and then had Garrosh command the main army to conduct a thorough search of the remaining half of the city.

As for the other armies, they were to withdraw from the city first to a safe location north of the city.

After all the tasks were proceeding in an orderly manner, Gale finally examined the arcane gem from before.

Having absorbed most of the Well of Eternity's energy, the arcane gem contained an extremely terrifying amount of power. However, it merely glowed with a purple light, showing no signs of losing control.

Gale was filled with curiosity and couldn't help but analyze the arcane gem.

As a result, as soon as the Arcane Energy touched the arcane gem, it was absorbed. This made Gale smile; from that brief contact, he sensed a consciousness within the arcane gem.

That consciousness was very similar to aluneth, but it wasn't active, merely relying on instinct to devour Arcane Energy.

Gale connected this to the eternal holy grail being linked to aluneth's world, even if this gem might be a variant of aluneth. It was either a newly born aluneth or a deceased aluneth.

Gale had guessed correctly!

This arcane gem was aluneth, who had originally found the beacon crystal and swallowed it.

The Arcane Energy within aluneth was denser than the Arcane Energy of aluneth's world, almost equivalent to the energy concentration within the eternal holy grail. Therefore, whenever Gale used the Well of Eternity, he directly absorbed Arcane Energy from within aluneth.

Only then did aluneth realize something was wrong. It wanted to remove the beacon crystal but found it impossible. The absorption of the eternal holy grail had drawn in a part of its body, causing the beacon crystal to get stuck inside its stomach. The only thing it could do was continuously absorb external Arcane Energy to make up for its depletion.

Initially, this method worked well. Gale only used the eternal holy grail to irrigate Shaladrassil, and the amount used was not very large.

However, when forging the eternal spear, Gale used a large amount of Arcane Energy. aluneth couldn't handle it anymore; how could its speed of absorbing Arcane Energy compare to the eternal holy grail's absorption speed?

Finally, aluneth was literally sucked to death by the eternal holy grail. Its body, compressed by the eternal holy grail, transformed into the arcane gem and remained inside the eternal holy grail.

After aluneth's death, the beacon crystal fell back into aluneth's world. The decrease in Arcane Energy concentration also led to a reduction in the eternal holy grail's energy absorption rate.

Gale had found the eternal holy grail's energy consumption strange back then, and this was precisely the reason.

But Gale didn't know all this. He only knew that this arcane gem was incredibly powerful. If used properly, it could definitely be crafted into a formidable weapon, whose power would not be inferior to the pillars of creation.

However, before deciding what kind of weapon to create, Gale needed to tame the arcane gem first.

Under the control of that consciousness, the arcane gem, like a Pixiu, only took in and did not release. Such an arcane gem could not be utilized.

He first put the arcane gem back into the eternal holy grail, allowing it to continue absorbing the energy within. He would then proceed with taming it after dealing with other matters.

Soon, all the survivors were fished out. Most of these Kaldorei Mages were people who had helped the villains.

Gale glanced at them, "I will judge your crimes, and then I will give you a fair punishment."

The survivors lowered their heads, their eyes flickering. Clearly, they did not want to accept the so-called judgment. They thought that if they had a chance, they would escape, as the situation was chaotic now, and as long as they ran far enough, Gale would definitely not have time to catch them and bring them back.

Metri walked over, shattering their illusions. aluneth released Arcane shackles, placing them on these Mages. The Arcane shackles sealed their spellcasting abilities, and relying solely on physical strength, they had no chance of escaping from the Alpha Squad.

The Mages looked at Metri in despair, wishing they could kill him.

Metri looked at them indifferently, "You should consider yourselves lucky that you still have some use, otherwise, you would definitely not live to see your judgment."

Harming one's own kin was an unforgivable crime in Kaldorei law, punishable by death. These Mages who survived had at least dozens of lives on their hands; even death by a thousand cuts would be too lenient for them.

"Let's go!"

Carlos roughly pushed a Mage, leading the Alpha Squad in escorting all the survivors out of the city.

After the rescue operation was completed, the Dragon Legion departed. They flew towards the ocean to conduct a post-disaster assessment.

The collection work was also nearly finished, and the Kaldorei army began to gather the bodies of the fallen.

Just as Gale was preparing to withdraw, a green figure emerged from The Maelstrom.

"Brox!"

Rhonin quickly cast a spell, pulling Brox's body to the shore.

Everyone stood in solemn silence, commemorating the hero.

Gale sensed the ocean, then pointed the eternal spear into the sea. The Rainbow Bridge descended into the water, and after a short while, a battle-axe was pulled up.

He handed the black cleaver to Rhonin, "Take it to Brox's family!"
