"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 172: I Always Keep My Dowry With Me

Every good day starts with waking up to morning light.

Draconis stirred early, sunlight just beginning to seep through the curtains. Last night's training had left him feeling amazing—he'd finally smashed through a bottleneck, and his holy-demonic power was ready to climb again.

First thing he noticed: a warm, soft body pressed close against him. He turned his head and found Rias, still fast asleep, her fiery red hair spilling across the pillow. She looked both beautiful and—somehow—even a little regal in her sleep.

The best part? …They were still "plugged in."

Draconis groaned, palm to forehead. Just how wild had last night been?

"Rias." He gave her back a gentle tap. The body beside him stirred, and Rias blinked open her eyes, lazy and content. She gazed at him, then leaned in for a quick kiss.

"Let me sleep a little longer, darling," she mumbled, eyelids drooping again.

"I'm heading out for morning training," Draconis said, mostly to himself.

He carefully disentangled her arms from his waist. Finally—disconnected.

After a quick wash, he stepped outside for his usual workout. But after last night's breakthrough, everything felt… way too easy. Push-ups, sprints, the whole routine—he didn't break a sweat.

Uh-oh.

Had his training officially stopped working?

Draconis frowned. If basic stuff like running and calisthenics didn't do anything anymore, what was he supposed to do? A quick self-assessment told him he'd need to run full-speed for an entire day just to feel a little strain.

A whole day of running? Yeah, no thanks.

Still brooding, he headed home. Rias was up by then, looking radiant—she practically glowed after a night with him.

"Morning!" she called, stretching bare and unashamed before padding over to wrap her arms around his waist.

"You look troubled," she teased.

Draconis explained his predicament, and Rias was silent for a long moment.

"…That's really a thing? Hmm… Maybe we should ask my brother about it," she said, half-laughing, half exasperated. No wonder she'd been exhausted last night while he was still raring to go.

"Let's get to school," Draconis said, letting it go for now. After tidying up their "battlefield" of a room, they headed out.

The clubroom was already buzzing. The whole peerage was there, Asia and Xenovia back from their trip.

Unexpectedly, someone else was waiting inside.

Azazel—the Fallen Angel Governor—was lounging in Rias's chair.

"…What are you doing here?" Rias asked, mouth twitching.

This guy had zero sense of boundaries.

"Your hand's healed?" Draconis asked, unfazed.

Azazel grinned, flexing his new mechanical arm. "This is an upgrade—lots of features. Been wanting to try it for ages." He cycled through attachments, ending with a rocket launcher that zipped around the room.

Draconis just stared. This was peak "mechanical ascension."

"You didn't answer my question!" Rias protested.

"Oh, I promised your brother I'd come teach you all a few things. You've got serious potential, every one of you—including Draconis. Bet you're hitting some roadblocks, huh?"

Azazel's eyes twinkled.

Draconis nodded. These big shots always knew the hacks.

"Yeah, I've hit a wall with physical training."

"Tsk… Amateur hour. Still using basic methods?" Azazel sighed. "With your talent, you should be smarter about this. Watch and learn."

Azazel let divine power surge through his body, demonstrating a new technique. Draconis watched, his own senses picking up the subtle body refinement.

A lightbulb went off. He couldn't help but chuckle. "So it's that simple."

"You were just overcomplicating things," Azazel said, passing on the body-tempering method. "You need High-Class Devil-level strength to use this. Lucky for you, you qualify."

Draconis stroked his chin. "So I don't need to wake up early for training anymore?"

Rias's eyes sparkled. She leaned in, voice low in his ear: "That means we'll have more time in the mornings…"

"Ara ara? More time for what?" Akeno chimed in, flashing a dangerous smile.

Rias smirked. "None of your business."

"How cold!" Akeno moved in close to Draconis, whispering, "I'll come find you tonight~"

His ear tingled. His heart did too. That vixen.

Azazel suddenly snapped his fingers. "Oh, right—Sirzechs asked me to pass along a message."

"…What is it?"

Azazel cleared his throat, imitating Sirzechs's formal tone: "In the name of Sirzechs Lucifer, I command all members of Rias's peerage to move in with Draconis and learn the importance of physical intimacy."

Draconis groaned. "Did he really say that?"

Why was his Maou brother-in-law meddling in his love life?

"Of course! Don't underestimate your potential." Azazel winked. "Kid, you're on a roll. Have you properly claimed Rias yet?"

"Yeah."

"Good, you've got my style! That's how a disciple should act."

"Who's your disciple?" Draconis shot back. "Careful, or I'll deck you."

"Tch, no respect for your elders, brat."

Rias was blushing now, muttering, "What is even happening…? But if it's a Maou's order, I guess we have no choice…"

Akeno just laughed. "Draconis, I'm moving in!"

"Sure. Need help carrying anything?" Draconis offered.

"No need—I always keep my dowry with me…"

Rias: "…Akeno?!"

Draconis watched the two girls start squabbling, shaking his head.

Oh right—today was Wednesday. After class, he'd need to visit the quintuplets' place…
