"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 180: How About We Shower Together?
Toyohama Nodoka got what Long Yi was saying, but it didn't take her long to realize something felt off.
"So basically, I'm useless, so you might as well recycle the trash?"
Long Yi couldn't help laughing, flashing a teasing smile. "If that's how you want to spin it, sure, I guess that works."
"…Go die, seriously." Nodoka muttered, exasperated.
Long Yi glanced at his watch and stood up. "Mai's dance practice should be wrapping up soon. I'll go pick her up."
"W-wait…" Nodoka grabbed his wrist suddenly.
He turned back, eyebrow raised. "What's up?"
"Um… I got all sweaty just now, and I really want to take a nice, relaxing shower. Could you, uh, just wait in the living room until I'm done before you leave?"
She looked genuinely embarrassed, eyes darting away.
Long Yi frowned, not quite following. "Why do you need me in the living room for you to shower in peace?"
"You know how sometimes, when you're showering alone, it just feels… creepy?"
"Like you think a ghost might be watching?"
"Yes! Exactly that!" Nodoka nodded, a little too enthusiastically.
Long Yi's face said it all. "That's what you get for watching horror movies alone. Now you're jumpy."
"Ugh! If you get it, just help me out, okay? Jeez." Nodoka puffed out her cheeks, suddenly convinced Long Yi wasn't nearly as considerate as he was with her sister. All that gentle, caring stuff with Mai? Had to be an act. No way he was that sweet.
Long Yi just shrugged, grinning. "Sorry, can't relate. And for the record, I know for a fact there are spirits in this world. I mean, if demons like me exist, and gods used to walk around, ghosts are pretty standard fare, right?"
He was clearly having fun messing with her.
And it worked—Nodoka's eyes darted around the room, the empty house suddenly feeling crowded with invisible presences.
"R-really? Don't, don't scare me…"
Her voice trembled.
Long Yi watched her panic, trying not to laugh. "Who knows, maybe there's a lady ghost in the bathroom right now, just like in those movies."
Nodoka was so freaked out she didn't even notice he was joking.
"Fine, I just won't shower then, okay…"
Long Yi sighed. He'd pushed it far enough. "Look at you—scared out of your mind. I'm just kidding. Go shower, I've got to pick up Mai."
"You… Could you please just wait in the living room until I'm done?" Nodoka was still clearly spooked.
Long Yi rolled his eyes. "You're really that scared? Even if there was a ghost, I couldn't get to you in time anyway. If you're doomed, you're doomed. Might as well shower in peace."
"What do you mean 'doomed'? What kind of thing is that to say!" Nodoka snapped, hands waving in frustration.
Long Yi just grinned. "If you're that scared, want to just shower together? I've bathed with Mai before, so don't feel awkward."
He dropped back onto the sofa, casual as ever.
"That… That'd need my sister's approval!"
"Go ahead, call Mai and ask." Long Yi said, voice light with amusement.
Nodoka blinked, finally catching on. "…No way! Absolutely not! Go die! Die ten thousand times!"
Fuming, she grabbed her change of clothes and marched into the bathroom, leaving Long Yi sprawled on the sofa, flipping through magazines.
Eventually, he found a photo book featuring Mai Sakurajima and started browsing with genuine interest.
Despite teasing Nodoka mercilessly, he really did wait until she finished her shower before heading out.
Of course, he waited outside the bathroom—like a gentleman.
Ever since swapping identities with Nodoka, Mai's schedule had been packed. Most nights, she didn't get home until late.
As a commercial idol, Nodoka's group had tons of gigs—weekly performances, plus a big event invitation recently. Mai had been grinding through dance practice almost every night.
Long Yi arrived at the studio just as practice wrapped up.
"Hey, who's that guy here for?" one of the Sweet Bullet members asked, spotting Long Yi's striking figure.
"He's here to pick me up." Mai answered calmly. Even wearing Nodoka's face, her aura was unmistakable.
"Wait, Nodoka, is he your boyfriend?"
"Nope, he's my sister's boyfriend. He just came to pick me up today." Mai smiled, offering a smooth cover.
"Your sister… Sakurajima Mai-senpai, right?"
"Mai-senpai's boyfriend?!"
Sweet Bullet's members gawked, jaws dropping.
Thanks to the memory shift, Mai and Long Yi's relationship had always been under wraps. But seeing Mai admit it so openly, it was clear she'd already decided to go public.
She didn't even bother hiding it anymore.
Long Yi walked over, waving to Mai. The girls crowded around.
"Um, are you really Mai-senpai's boyfriend?" one asked, eyes wide.
Long Yi glanced at Mai—she was cool as ever. Her expression said it all.
He smiled at the group. "Yep. Mai asked me to come pick up Nodoka."
"Wow, so the superstar really has a boyfriend…"
Mai's presence was overwhelming.
Long Yi just laughed. "She's human too. Having a boyfriend's normal, isn't it?"
"Hehe, true, but she's so amazing—we're all super curious."
The girls chattered, eyes sizing Long Yi up.
He'd seen it all before—stage fright wasn't in his vocabulary.
He smiled and nodded to the middle-aged manager nearby. "Mai's waiting at home, so Nodoka and I should head out."
The manager grinned. "Come by anytime! The stage show's starting soon—I'll have Uzuki send you some VIP tickets."
"Absolutely. I wouldn't miss Mai's performance for anything."
Long Yi's smile was genuine. No way he'd pass up a chance to see Mai dance.
