"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 264: Sugar Overload
Yor was determined to master the art of cooking, throwing herself into lessons with her colleagues. She wanted to be a good partner—not just rely on Draconis Yi to make everything perfect. Sure, he'd always bend over backward to fulfill her wishes, but Yor couldn't bear the thought of putting all the pressure on him. She wanted to pull her own weight.
What she didn't realize was that, for Draconis Yi, playing the role of her boyfriend was a breeze. Even her notoriously difficult little brother had already been won over.
When the promised hour arrived, Draconis Yi showed up right on time at what was now their shared home—his old place, transformed into a new beginning. To his surprise, there were two extra guests: Camilla and Millie, Yor's colleagues, both familiar faces from the party.
He was a little taken aback, but his expression remained perfectly composed. "I'm home."
"Welcome back!" Yor greeted him in a striking red lounge dress, her smile gentle and radiant.
Camilla and Millie stared, momentarily stunned. Was this really the same Draconis Yi? Two months had passed, but his whole aura seemed different—refined, almost regal. The etiquette training he'd endured in the Underworld had left its mark, even if he hadn't cared much for it. Now, every gesture radiated effortless elegance, enough to make Camilla and Millie wonder if they'd gotten the wrong guy.
"Looks like we've got guests," Draconis Yi said, nodding politely. "Perfect timing. I brought back some excellent wine from my trip—let's all have a glass."
He popped open his suitcase, a prop for the business trip act. The wine inside was no ordinary bottle—it was a rare vintage, straight from the Gremory family's castle. He'd found it in the Underworld and figured it might come in handy.
Camilla and Millie gawked at the label, recognizing it instantly. Working in city government, they'd rubbed shoulders with plenty of bigwigs, but even among the elite, this wine was legendary.
"Are you sure we should drink this now?" Camilla asked, half in disbelief. "Isn't it a bit… extravagant?"
Draconis Yi just smiled. "Wine's meant to be enjoyed. Don't hold back—it was a gift."
He poured with a practiced hand, filling glasses as the rich aroma drifted through the room. Yor inhaled, eyes sparkling.
"Actually," Millie said, "we came over because we promised to supervise Yor-senpai's cooking. Now's our chance to see how she does!"
She shot Yor a sly look, secretly envious. Not only did Yor have a handsome, mysterious boyfriend, but he was apparently loaded, too. Some people really did have all the luck.
Yor, a little embarrassed, carried out her homemade dishes. Camilla's face twitched, recalling the lunchtime disaster—Yor's cooking was infamous for a reason. That "dark cuisine" was the stuff of legends; surviving a meal was a feat in itself.
"Darling, I made dinner for you. Eat while it's hot…" Yor said, her tone now natural and affectionate. She'd come a long way from the awkwardness of their early act.
"Did you? Then I'll have to give it a proper try." Draconis Yi smiled, sampling a bite with visible delight.
"…How is it?" Yor asked, nerves on edge.
"It's delicious. Let's all eat together." His eyes caught the bandages on her fingers. He gently took her hand, inspecting the tiny wounds.
He smiled softly. "You put a lot of effort into this… Thank you, my wife."
"Eh—?" Yor's face went scarlet.
Camilla and Millie exchanged glances, groaning. "Seriously, how are we supposed to eat when you two are serving up this much sugar? We're stuffed just watching you!"
Draconis Yi laughed. "Come on, dig in. Have some wine."
He poured for everyone, including himself. Yor, still flustered from being called "wife," took a big sip, trying to steady her pounding heart.
He really was gentler than ever…
Dinner was warm and lively. When the meal ended, Camilla and Millie got ready to leave. They hadn't meant to intrude, but Yor's culinary reputation had made supervision non-negotiable.
Draconis Yi could tell that, for all their gossip, Camilla and Millie genuinely cared about Yor. They'd never hurt her—not physically, anyway. With Yor's skills, that was impossible. What worried him was her trusting nature, but tonight, it seemed she was in good hands.
At the door, Draconis Yi bowed with sincere gratitude. "Camilla-san, Millie-san, thank you for looking after Yor. I appreciate it."
The gesture was so earnest, both women felt their hearts skip. His warmth was almost painful—how could anyone be this devoted? The envy was real.
"N-no need to thank us. We're all good friends…" Millie stammered.
As they left, Camilla and Millie could only sigh. Draconis Yi's charm was overwhelming, and the sweetness between him and Yor was almost too much to bear.
