"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 263: Cooking for My Boyfriend

The quintuplets each picked out a gift, eager hands fastening necklaces, bracelets, and hair ornaments with delighted squeals. It didn't take long for them to notice the subtle magic woven into each Underworld crystal—warmth in winter, coolness in summer, a gentle clarity in the mind. As Draconis Yi explained their effects, the room filled with chatter and laughter, the sisters admiring their new treasures.

Miku's curiosity soon turned to Draconis Yi himself. "So, what's the Underworld really like?"

"Is it just devils everywhere?"

"Are there devils that don't even look human?" The questions tumbled out, five pairs of eyes fixed on him.

Draconis Yi smiled. "Honestly, the Underworld isn't so different from here. There's no sun or moon, just magical imitations. As for devils…"

He paused, remembering the rigid hierarchy and aristocratic airs of the devil nobility. "Most devils live much like humans, but the class system is intense. Nobles and commoners—there's a huge gap."

"Ugh, nobles…" Ichika wrinkled her nose. "That sounds awful."

Modern sensibilities left them all uneasy with the idea of aristocratic privilege. Draconis Yi understood—he wasn't fond of it either. He'd lucked out as Rias's Peerage, treated as family rather than property. Most high-class devils weren't like her. Take Diodora, for example—he'd ruled his Peerage like slaves.

And the Rating Games? Just for nobles. Lower-class devils never got a shot.

He thought of Sona Sitri's dream: a school in the Underworld where anyone could learn about the Rating Games, not just the elite. The idea had been met with scorn from the upper crust—even Sona's Maou sister couldn't change the bones-deep classism of devil society.

Draconis Yi looked at the quintuplets, voice soft. "The Underworld isn't some paradise. So, I have to ask—knowing all this, would you still want to become devils with me? To stay together, forever?"

"I would," Miku said without hesitation.

"Me too," Ichika chimed in, grinning.

"Come on, what's there to think about? Eternal life and magic? That's awesome!" Nino punched the air.

The others nodded, faces bright. Draconis Yi's smile was gentle. "Don't worry. Whatever happens, I'll protect you."

The sisters blushed, hearts fluttering.

"Ah! We need to go—work starts soon!" Miku glanced at the clock, panic rising.

"Same here, I've got to run…" The girls scrambled for bags and shoes, each with a job to get to. Draconis Yi waved them off.

"Go on, I'll see you later."

"Bye-bye!" Nino blew him a kiss before darting out the door.

Once they'd gone, Draconis Yi stretched and pulled out one last gift—this one for Yor. After all, she'd signed a faith contract with him; she deserved something special. He wondered if his absence these past two months had caused any suspicion.

After a moment's thought, he dialed Yor's number. She'd be at work by now.

In a sunlit office, Yor straightened stacks of paperwork, dressed in crisp work attire. Ever since Draconis Yi had played her boyfriend at the dance, she'd become the talk of the building. For weeks, colleagues and neighbors had peppered her with questions about him, but lately, the gossip had faded. She was relieved—he'd warned her he'd be away for a while, and she hated the idea of causing him trouble.

Her phone buzzed. Seeing Draconis Yi's name, Yor's heart skipped. She snatched it up, voice bright. "Draconis Yi-san… You're back?"

"Yeah, Yor-san. How's everything?"

"Um, all good. The neighbors keep asking where you went, why you haven't come back yet."

Nosy neighbors were a universal constant, especially when someone as memorable as Draconis Yi was involved.

"When you're off work, should I come see you?"

"Yes! I'll get ready…" Yor hung up, cheeks flushed with excitement. With Draconis Yi back, she could finally stop worrying. Whatever came up, he could handle it—he was just that amazing.

She hurried to find her colleague.

"Um, Camilla-san, can I ask you something?"

"Hm? What's up?"

"Could you teach me… how to cook?"

Yor's voice was soft, a little anxious. Camilla had always tried to trip her up, but Yor's good-natured obliviousness meant she'd never noticed. No hard feelings—just earnest hope.

"Eh? Yor-senpai, why are you suddenly interested in cooking?" another coworker asked.

"Because… I want to learn how to make meals…" Actually, a neighbor had mentioned that cooking for your loved one was a huge plus for any wife-to-be.

But Yor's own culinary skills were, frankly, tragic. Yuri always praised her food, but she didn't think it tasted good at all. Maybe Yuri's palate was just… unique. Still, she couldn't serve Draconis Yi the same fare—she needed to step up her game.

She looked at Camilla, eyes pleading. Camilla hesitated, ready to refuse, but Yor's hopeful expression melted her resolve.

"…Fine. Come to my dorm at lunch—I've got a kitchen there."

"Really? Thank you, Camilla-san!"

"N-no need to thank me…" Camilla mumbled, suddenly bashful. Yor's sincerity made her regret all her past mischief. Not that she realized—agreeing to help Yor would soon bring its own regrets…
