"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 266: Then Be My Real Wife
Yor sat frozen, panic flashing across her face.
Oh no, oh no—what have I done? I crossed a line. What if he's angry? What if he doesn't want me anymore?
She scrambled for words. "P-please don't be mad! I'll take responsibility—I can cook, clean, do laundry, anything!"
Draconis Yi tilted his head, amused. "Take responsibility? For what, exactly?"
Yor's cheeks burned. "I mean… if you don't mind… I know I'm not really qualified, but after what happened, I won't run away. I'll do everything a wife should."
Her voice trembled with uncertainty. With someone like Draconis Yi, she could never be sure he'd actually want her—especially now, after all that.
Draconis Yi found himself at a loss. Wasn't he supposed to be the one taking advantage here? How did the tables turn?
But Yor's earnestness sparked an idea. Wouldn't she make a perfect peerage member? After all, they already had a faith contract—he couldn't just let her slip away. Finding someone with a faith contract was nearly impossible. If he let Yor go, Rias herself would have his head.
He knew better than anyone how much power those contracts gave him. His rapid growth was thanks to their support.
And Yor's combat skills? Not bad at all. If she gained magic, she might rival Sairaorg someday. Her physical abilities were off the charts for a human—practically superhuman, just lacking a Sacred Gear. But that was secondary; what mattered most was the faith contract. Everything else was just a bonus.
Draconis Yi leaned in, voice gentle. "Yor, would you want to become my peerage member?"
She blinked. "Peerage member?"
"It means becoming a devil—like me. We'd be family, close as can be."
Yor's eyes brightened. "So you wouldn't mind what happened before? As long as you don't kick me out, I'm happy!"
Draconis Yi chuckled. "Why would I kick you out?"
He couldn't help but laugh at her logic. He was making a perfectly reasonable proposal, yet Yor seemed convinced he was seconds away from throwing her out.
Seeing her agree, Draconis Yi smiled. "It's settled, then. Once I'm promoted to High-Class Devil, I'll help you reincarnate. From now on, we're family. I'll introduce you to the others soon."
"Ah—okay…" Yor fidgeted, a little nervous. Meeting the rest of his companions sounded like a huge privilege. She'd only hoped not to be sent away, to keep up the fake relationship and continue her assassin work. Now she was getting far more than she'd bargained for.
Draconis Yi grinned. "Since you're my future peerage, maybe we should upgrade our fake relationship. Why not be my actual wife?"
"R-really?"
"Hmm? Don't want to?"
"No, no—it's just… I'm so happy…" Yor's head spun.
It was exactly what she wanted. A fake romance couldn't last forever; too much delay would only fuel gossip. She was twenty-seven—still dating at her age wasn't ideal.
Now, somehow, she'd become Draconis Yi's real wife. She had no idea how it happened, only that she was thrilled.
Watching her dazed expression, Draconis Yi couldn't help but smile. Yor was adorable, her innocent confusion somehow endearing.
He leaned in, voice soft. "Let's mark the occasion with something memorable."
He kissed her—gentle, lingering. Yor went stiff, eyes wide, as Draconis Yi rolled over, pinning her softly to the bed, his kiss deepening. When they finally left the room, Yor was still in a daze.
Her mind spun with a single thought: Not only did he not send me away—I've become Draconis Yi's real wife.
If he knew what she was thinking, he'd marvel at her unique logic. Yor's mind worked in ways he'd never quite understand.
They ate breakfast together. Midway through, the house phone rang—the old landline Yor had brought with her.
Yor rushed to answer. "Good morning, Princess. You have a guest," came the shopkeeper's gentle voice. Instantly, Yor's ditzy expression vanished, replaced by cold determination.
"I understand."
She hung up, and Draconis Yi looked over, smiling. "Got a job?"
"Yes. It's at a ball in the International Hotel."
"Not far. Want me to come with you?"
"Eh? Together?"
He nodded. "Let's call it a proper date. We can catch up with some familiar faces—no more pretending."
"Oh, that sounds nice. I'll get ready."
Yor wasn't worried about the mission. With Draconis Yi by her side, she had the perfect cover—and a male escort for the ball. He had nothing else on his schedule; Mai and the quintuplets were busy, Asia and the others buried in homework. He figured he'd spend the day with Yor, deepening their bond.
Yor changed into a sleek black gown; Draconis Yi dressed for the occasion. They drove to the hotel together.
At the entrance, security checked invitations. Draconis Yi had none, and Yor started to fret. But Draconis Yi just smiled.
"Just follow me."
He slipped an arm around Yor's waist and strode in, bold as could be. No one stopped them; memory alteration made ordinary people oblivious.
"When you become a devil, you'll learn tricks like this," Draconis Yi whispered, giving her waist a playful squeeze.
Yor blushed, but couldn't help smiling.
