Chapter 268 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 267: Yor Got Hurt?

"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 267: Yor Got Hurt?

The two slipped effortlessly into the ballroom, blending in with the crowd. Draconis Yi and Yor surveyed the scene, eyes sharp for any sign of their target.

Yor spotted him first—a sharp-faced middle-aged man, dressed to impress in a tailored suit. He looked every bit the successful politician, but Yor's intel painted a different story: a corrupt official, trading secrets for personal gain.

Right now, he was wrapped around a woman on the dance floor, hands drifting south of her waist, shamelessly groping.

"Not exactly the best place to make a move," Draconis Yi murmured, checking his watch. The ball had plenty of time left; Yor would have to wait for a more private moment.

"It's fine. I'll wait for my chance," Yor replied, calm and focused. Patience was part of the job—once the target was alone, she'd strike.

Draconis Yi smiled, extending a hand. "Then… care to dance?"

Yor hesitated, cheeks flushing as memories of their last dance flickered through her mind. But she let him lead her onto the floor, moving together in time with the gentle music. Unlike before, they danced with easy intimacy, swaying to the melody as if the world had shrunk to just the two of them.

For Yor, it was a first—dancing so freely while on a mission. Whenever she was with Draconis Yi, everything felt warmer, safer, and just a little bit more romantic.

After ten minutes, the target grew restless, tugging his partner toward the elevators. Two bodyguards followed close behind.

"Time to move," Yor whispered.

Draconis Yi nodded, trailing her up the stairs. "I'll wait here."

"Okay."

He lingered by the stairwell, careful not to interfere. This was Yor's job, after all.

Yor followed the scent of expensive perfume down the hallway, stopping at a hotel room guarded by two men. She moved without hesitation—a flick of her wrist sent a golden kunai flying, shattering the surveillance camera. In a blur, she closed the distance before the bodyguards could react.

Thunk.

With a low, muffled crack, Yor knocked their heads together—her signature "physical amnesia." She snatched a keycard, slipped inside, and found the target sprawled on the bed with his companion, both naked and oblivious.

Yor's eyes narrowed. She moved coldly, golden kunai flashing—one quick strike to the man's temple, and he slumped, never seeing her face.

She withdrew the blade and ghosted out, silent as a shadow.

The woman beneath him, eyes closed and limp, suddenly realized the man atop her wasn't moving.

Already? That was fast…

She blinked, confused.

"…AHHH!!"

"Why are there pursuers now?" Draconis Yi wondered aloud, jogging alongside Yor through the hotel corridors.

He'd been waiting for her, and in less than a minute, she returned—weapon stained with blood. The woman's scream had gone out over the bodyguards' radios, blowing Yor's cover.

"Sorry. I didn't kill the woman," Yor said, unfazed. "But it's fine. I know how to lose pursuers."

Draconis Yi just shrugged. Clearly, being chased by security wasn't new for her.

He followed at an easy pace, hands in pockets. Neither seemed worried; Draconis Yi had no intention of stepping in. This was Yor's mission. He was just here for company, not to meddle.

Besides, against ordinary humans, what was the point?

They ducked and weaved through the halls until Yor suddenly paused.

Draconis Yi smirked. "Fast response. There's a whole squad—at least ten."

"I can handle it. You wait downstairs."

"Sure."

Draconis Yi didn't argue, simply twisting around and jumping out the eleventh-floor window.

Yor opened her mouth to protest, but the bodyguards were already closing in. No time—she readied herself.

"Get her! She's the Thorn Princess!"

The name sent a chill through the guards. A legendary assassin, here of all places.

No choice but to fight.

Yor's gaze turned icy. She fired a kunai, shattering the hallway lights, plunging the corridor into darkness. She moved like a wraith, weaving through the chaos. Shouts and thuds echoed—within seconds, every guard lay unconscious, peaceful as sleeping children.

"Draconis Yi… is he okay…?"

It was the eleventh floor, after all.

She hurried to the window, peering down, only to spot Draconis Yi leaning against a utility pole, arms crossed, looking bored.

Well, of course he was fine.

Relief washed over her, but she didn't notice the bodyguard behind her, barely conscious, trembling as he raised a pistol.

Bang!

The shot rang out, sharp and clear.

Draconis Yi's head snapped up. The hotel erupted into chaos as guests flooded the exits. He scanned the crowd and spotted Yor—her face twisted in discomfort, one hand pressed to her backside.

They slipped out together. Draconis Yi glanced at her, puzzled. "What happened?"

"N-nothing…" Yor mumbled, unable to meet his eyes. She'd let her guard down and gotten grazed by a bullet—right in the butt.

Her reflexes had saved her from a direct hit, but a long, bloody scratch burned across her skin. It hurt. A lot.

Draconis Yi wasn't fooled. His gaze sharpened.

"There was a gunshot. Did you get hurt?"

He moved to check, but Yor twisted away, desperate to hide the injury. Too slow—Draconis Yi saw the wound.

"…"

Ah. So that's why she was so embarrassed.
