Chapter 50 - Souls on Fire

Alex: He zipped up his Jacket, preparing to leave. "I'm going to check up on a few things, Sophi...I ask that you stay here, do not leave under any circumstances..." He glared down at her before patting her on the head and vanishing.

Sophi: She watched as Alex vanished, whining and wishing he had given her more time to reply. "mmh.. damn, i-i have to..." she spoke to herself, fumbling over her own words and searching around Alex's world for a way out. After wandering aimlessly for a long while, she teleported randomly, landing face-first in the snowy ground of Multhi's planet.

Radna: Before he could fully open a rift to lead Multhi and the others, he heard her fall into the ground, rolling his eyes in annoyance. "Great. Uriel neutralize them."

Sophi: "Owh!!" she yelped as she fell into the snow, staring up at the archangel that drew on her, praying to something unseen that he would be able to read her energies "P-please, i-i-i mean no harm..." wet tears began streaming down her face as she held her hands up, trembling "i-i-i knew..." she cried, trying to contain her emotions "M-M-Multhi's..."

Uriel: His head tilted, enemies don't pray. "You pray?" He knelt, shifting his sword away from her to read her energy readings before putting his sword back away. "Your prayers are answered, child." He helped her back up to her feet. "She is no threat."

Tiffany: "Hey! I know her! She was with mom before everything went bad!" She poked her head out from behind Alces.

Multhi: He looked between her and Sophi, "She knew mom?..." His expression softened, but he gripped his staff, his hands shaking.

Radna: He finally turned around, picking her up by the back of her dress. "Hmm. Yeah, this one is useless, it's fine." Drops her.

Sophi: "Mmmh..." She lifted herself off her feet, shakily levitating and placing her hands on her hips, looking directly at this purple being. "Useless? You don't even know me, mister... wait, who are you?" In some deep part of her subconscious, she felt like she recognized the archangel, but this being...she couldn't tell.

Uriel: He straightened slightly, wings settling behind him as his voice carried with calm formality. "Thou standest before King Radna, second among the Golden Guardians."

Radna: He scoffed, rolling one massive shoulder as faint distortions rippled around his form. "Oh yeah, just tell her everything, Uriel." He waved a dismissive hand. "Would you like my social security number, too?"

Multhi: He blinked, ears twitching as he leaned forward a little. "What's that?"

Tiffany: She reached out and tugged lightly at his sleeve, lowering her voice. "I'll explain later."

Sophi: "R-Radna..?" she gasped, flying slowly up to the king and placing her hands carefully on his shoulders. She looked intently at the being, making sure he was at least semi-comfortable before speaking. "D-D-Does...does the name...A-Alex...ring any bells...?" she whispered.

Radna: He froze. Completely still. His gaze locked onto her, sharp and unreadable. "Where did you get that name from?" Purple fire flared to life along his horns, the air around them warping under the sudden pressure.

Uriel: He stepped forward, wings tensing as his hand rested near his blade. "Radna, calm thyself."

Radna: His hand shot out, gripping her without warning as power crackled through his fingers. "SPEAK."

Sophi: "A-Ah!! Mmh.. i-i.." she stuttered, her body jerking as Radna's grip tightened, heat biting into her skin and forcing a sharp gasp from her chest. Her hands clawed weakly at his wrist, not to fight, just to steady herself. "H-h-he's.. my.." Her voice wavered as she searched for the right word, her thoughts scrambling under the pain. "A-ah.." She swallowed hard, tears blurring her vision. "H-h-he's been looking for you.."

Radna: He released her. Heat lingered where his fingers had been, leaving an angry, burning mark along her neck. His posture stiffened, eyes widening just slightly. "He's alive?"

Alex: He appeared in a flash the instant he felt her pain, fury surging through him. Without hesitation, he raised his hand and fired an energy beam straight into Radna's head, the impact blasting the king backward. "What did I tell you, Sophi!"

Radna: He skidded across the ground before slamming a hand into the earth, fingers digging deep as he forced himself upright. Dust and fractured stone slid away from his palm as he stood slowly, horns flaring again.

Sophi: "Mmnhhg.." she whimpered as her strength gave out, collapsing onto the snow. She clutched her burning neck with trembling fingers, lifting her head just enough to see the two of them. "A-ah Alex!!!" she cried, voice breaking as another surge of energy flew past her. "W-what are you doing..?!" She sucked in a shallow breath, chest heaving, her energy nearly gone as she stared up at him in panic.

Radna: "A-Alex?" He straightened fully, lowering his shoulders and holding his hands at his sides in an open, almost cautious posture. "It's me. Your brother."

Alex: His stare hardened instantly, fury sharpening his expression. "You dare impersonate his great name." Rainbow flames erupted from his eyes, light bending and warping around his face as power surged outward.

Sophi: "Mmh.." she whimpered, forcing herself upright despite the ache burning through her body. She shuffled toward Alex on unsteady legs. "B-baby.. what's wrong..?" Slowly and carefully, she wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her cheek against him as she looked up into his blazing, multicolored eyes, trying to ground him.

Alex: "YOU! I'll deal with you in a moment." He snapped his fingers, putting a green barrier around her body. Staring down at Radna, he summoned seven floating hands around him. His eyes flickered briefly as he stared at Radna. Everything felt familiar. "You are not him, you don't look like him...you faker..."

Radna: "…I spent eternity searching for you. I dedicated my life to finding the one I once called my brother." Purple flames built rapidly across his body, intensifying by the second. "And the first thing I get when I finally stand in front of you is disdain, anger, and worst of all, you call me fake?!" His chains burst from his forearm, the hook clanging as it extended. "You wanna see how fucking fake I can be, you worthless scumbag?!" He swung the hooks through the air, shattering half of Alex's floating hands before charging straight at him.

Alex: His eyes narrowed. "Aura Red." He grabbed Radna by the horns, raw strength surging through him. "You are not stronger than me."

Radna: "Are you sure about that?!" He seized Alex by the collar of his sweater and hurled him back into the snowy earth. "You don't know SHIT!"

Sophi: "Alex!!!" She tried to push herself forward in the green barrier, but her efforts were in vain. She couldn't move, only watch.

Alex: His eyes flickered briefly in shock. "He… he shouldn't be able to hit me. My protocol…" He stared at Radna, sensors spiraling out of sync. He was detecting two different soul signatures, yet somehow none at all.

Radna: "Having some trouble, are we?!" He spun his hook rapidly and hurled it toward Alex, a trail of flame ripping through the air behind it.

Alex: He appeared above the chain. "Aura Blue!" One of his floating hands flashed blue at its core, a glowing blue outline snapping around Radna's body as gravity compressed inward. The barrier around Radna began to crack under the pressure, yet the harder the force pressed against him, the more durable he seemed to become.

Radna: The cracking barrier flared instead of shattering. He grinned through the pressure, teeth bared as the gravity screamed around him. "Yeah. That's it. Push harder." His flames condensed, tighter, denser. "You feel that resistance? That's me refusing to break again."

Alex: His expression hardened, hands trembling as Aura Blue intensified. "Your mass is increasing without expansion. That violates physical law." His voice dipped. "Stop adapting."

Radna: He roared and snapped the chain inward, the hook anchoring into the frozen ground as he ripped himself free of the gravity field. The blue outline shattered like glass. "I don't adapt." He charged forward through the snow. "I endure."

Alex: He staggered back half a step, eyes flickering violently as his data streams failed to resolve. "This should not be possible!"

Radna: "Still refuse to change, huh?!" He snarled. "Always so fucking cocky!" He ripped the chain free from the snow and yanked with brutal force, launching Alex upward at impossible speed. Reality itself fractured as Alex tore through a glasslike wall, exposing a vast, blank whiteness beyond. Radna followed, pulling himself through the rupture. "There. Now we aren't near the girl." His flames flared. "Do your worst."

Alex: "Aura Rainbow! You think just because you pushed me away from my wife that I'll go easy on you all of a sudden?!" His hands and the floating ones all ignited with rainbow flames. He dashed forward, his floating hands spreading out to cause effects from afar. Aura red built up in his palms, and he sent a barrage of punches into Radna's body, one of his hands glowed blue to amplify the gravity hits.

Radna: He held his hands up, tanking as many of the attacks as he could, the runes on his body glowing brighter and brighter with each hit. "No, I was hoping you wouldn't hold back." He swung at Alex's head suddenly, but his movements were extremely slow. "What the hell?!"

Alex: One of the hands above them was glowing a light blue, slowly down his flow of time, specifically. "Time exists when I allow it, for you it is slowed, for me, however..." He punched Radna in the face, launching him backwards. "It is perfect."

Red burned hotter around his fists, each punch sending shockwaves through Radna's body. A single floating hand glowed blue, tugging at his gravity and slamming him into the void floor. "Hhh!" Alex grunted as he forced another strike, muscles straining under the combined power.

Radna: He spat blood, chains whipping wildly as he tried to maintain balance. Purple flames roared across his shoulders and arms, searing the void with raw energy. "Argh!" He twisted midair, absorbing a second blow that cracked the runes across his chest. The runes strengthened themselves as he cracked his back. Flames burst from underneath Alex, as he tried to jump up, he grabbed a hold of Alex's foot, slamming him down repeatedly into the flames, and then threw him across the void.

Alex: Aura Green formed a green wall mid air, he landed his feet on it and jumped toward Radna, punching him in the gut, arms, and face all at once with extreme force. The entire void shook and cracked as the impacts occurred. "You are extremely persistent."

Radna: He headbud Alex immediately, "Yeah, I get that a lot." Chains burst from the ground, attempting to grab Alex, but Aura Yellow amplified his movements, and he was suddenly behind him, sending a kick into his back. His back tightened up, and a tentacle grabbed onto his leg, throwing him away.

Alex: He landed away from him, staring at him, still detecting two different spirits. "..." He stood up slowly, "I can do this forever...You know that, right?"

Radna: His eyes narrowed, flames flaring hotter as he hissed through gritted teeth. "Ugh…and I'm tired of this." He breathed slowly, and darkness suddenly shrouded the entire void. Tentacles formed from behind him in a cloud of smoke, "You don't think I know you've been holding back? Has your subconscious been feeding you something else with each strike? Well, so have I..." Alex's aura felt completely disconnected; his eyes returned to normal as the cloud of smoke grew bigger.

Alex: "W-what is this power?..." He kept attempting to summon his power, but nothing was working; he stumbled back.

Radna: He walked up to him, standing in front of him. Alex swung on him, but Radna caught his fist. "I know I was never a part of your soul-line, but I want you to know I always loved you like a brother." The cloud went away, and the void turned back to normal.

Alex: His expression softened, "Where did you hear that..."

Radna: "It was the last thing I said to you before I vanished. I wasn't killed, I was transported somewhere else. I can hardly remember our old life, but I remember what happened on that day." He let go of Alex's hand, stepping back from him.

Alex: Even though he felt his power again, he chose not to attack. "Hid-"

Radna: He cut him off instantly, "I go by Radna now."

Alex: He immediately charged into him, hugging him tightly, "It really is you!... Oh, I thought I lost you forever on that day!" Tears streamed down his bony cheeks.

Radna: He hugged him back, "So did I...Come on, I can explain everything once we get back. I am sure your wife is worried, which by the way, you have to tell me about!"

Alex: "Heh, yeah, we have a lot to catch up on." He smiled, wiping his face off.
