"There's no such thing as vampires," he said softly, his voice laced with quiet menace. "This was done by an animal. And you will never speak of vampires again. Forget everything you saw, understood?"
The second man nodded immediately, his expression blank, his eyes unfocused—as though something had drained the will from him.
The first man, however, frowned, his voice breaking through the silence.
"President Cassius... you can't just tell us to forget! We humans have to stop those creatures—"
"Creatures?" his companion interrupted suddenly, his tone confused. "What are you talking about?"
The first man stared between them, confusion and realization flashing briefly in his eyes before he forced a shaky smile.
"Ah... right, of course, President Cassius. You're right. There are no vampires." He laughed weakly. "We'll be on our way."
The two men turned to leave.
Cassius watched them go, his expression unreadable.
