Chapter 202 - Chapter 7: What Does It Matter to Me if I Destroy You

While bypassing the firewall, Morin had already reached a rough conclusion.

Umbrella Corporation-mere mortals-had somehow captured, frozen, and transported that many Aliens without triggering the end of the world.

What else was there to say?

With a company this capable, why did they have to get involved in a biohazard?

"Is he better than you?" Judy asked Chad quietly.

"He's not just a little better." Chad had been resentful at first, but after watching Morin's smooth, uninterrupted operations, that resentment turned into admiration.

Even something close to worship.

To someone who didn't understand, Morin's hands were just moving absurdly fast on the keyboard.

Impressive, sure.

But the truth was, very few people in real life could type at movie speeds.

Your hands might keep up.

Your brain wouldn't.

Hands: I can do it.

Brain: What are you even doing?

Most programmers spent their time moving their eyes.

Dragging the mouse.

Pressing Enter.

Pressing Delete.

Or staring at Baidu and Google, then using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.

That was the so-called "CV warrior."

If that didn't work, there was always CSDN.

And if that still didn't work...

Pay someone on Taobao to fix it.

But Morin was on a completely different level.

His hands could move that fast.

And his mind kept up without lag.

To someone like Chad, who actually understood, Morin's actions weren't just textbook-level.

They were beyond it.

"Done." Morin nodded, satisfied.

In front of them, the laser corridor shut down, and the door beyond it opened.

Morin hadn't fully seized control of the Red Queen.

He had only bypassed her defense systems.

Including the hibernation defense that, in the original story, killed many people-James included.

In such a short time, even if Morin had the ability, the computer's processing power wasn't enough.

Tools were part of strength.

And here, they were the deciding factor.

The group passed through the corridor and entered the Red Queen's server room.

Even though the assault team carried the component capable of forcing a shutdown and reboot.

The Red Queen detected their presence.

She also detected the shutdown component.

With no better option, she activated the holographic projection system.

Red light gathered.

A little girl appeared, floating in midair.

"You are very special," the Red Queen said, looking at Morin.

"Is that even a question?" Morin raised an eyebrow and waved a hand, stopping the team from shutting her down.

He still had things to ask.

"My database indicates that you are a ten-year veteran," the Red Queen continued, "but that does not explain your previous actions. For example, that longsword. It appears metallic, yet can emit extremely strong electrical currents. It was not corroded after killing Biological Experiment A04. Surveillance footage shows it was not originally on your person. May I ask what principle this is based on?"

She had seen everything.

"If I answer you," Morin said, "will you answer me?"

"That depends on your identity and clearance."

"Where did Biological Experiment A04 come from?"

"I'm sorry. Your clearance is insufficient." She smiled politely.

"Then forget it." Morin shook his head.

"Can I view data on the infected? Ordinary ones. Even surveillance footage."

"I'm sorry. Your clearance is insufficient."

Confusion flickered across the Red Queen's face.

"But how do you know this exists? It is confidential."

"I might have dreamed it," Morin sighed.

"Looks like I need the right clearance."

"Your hacking skills are extremely advanced," the Red Queen said. "Even I cannot guarantee remaining unharmed."

"But when I am about to fall, I will reboot. That may cause the restrictions placed on the infected to fail."

"Don't worry," Morin smiled faintly. "I've never liked using violence."

No one believed him.

If they hadn't personally seen him stab those creatures in the cryogenic containers one by one, they might have.

"You have a way to verify Umbrella personnel fingerprints here, right?" Morin asked.

"To verify clearance."

"Of course."

A white fingerprint scanner rose from the floor.

"Your information is not in the database-"

"I'm not the one using it," Morin interrupted, looking at Alice.

"Alice. Come here."

"...What?" She froze.

"You do it." Morin pointed at the scanner.

"I'm just a security guard..." Alice hesitated, then stepped forward.

"On the surface," Morin said calmly. "Yes."

He took her hand and placed it on the scanner.

"This is complicated. I'll explain later."

"Identity verified," the Red Queen said brightly.

"Highest level clearance activated. Welcome."

Her voice was cheerful.

Her words were not.

"Chairwoman Alicia Marcus."

Alice's mind went blank.

"What... is happening?"

"In Umbrella, this is a conspiracy," Morin said seriously.

"Are you sure you want to know? It will shock you."

Alice hesitated.

Then nodded.

"Yes. I want to know."

"Then we need to start with the origin of the T-virus."

Since she insisted, Morin didn't stop.

She would learn eventually.

The T-virus began as a father's attempt to save his daughter.

Umbrella had two chairmen.

Dr. Marcus.

And Dr. Isaacs.

Marcus's daughter, Alicia, suffered from progeria.

He adored her.

The Red Queen was modeled after Alicia as a child.

To save her, Marcus developed the T-virus.

A drug capable of reviving dead cells and forcing continued division.

For Alicia, it worked.

Partially.

Her body was special.

Even so, it couldn't cure her permanently.

Isaacs saw something else.

A military application.

For ordinary people-most people-the T-drug was catastrophic.

Only Alicia's physique prevented her from turning into a zombie.

For everyone else, it was a virus.

The T-virus.

Isaacs wanted profit.

And "ideal."

He believed overpopulation would destroy Earth.

So humanity needed purification.

The plan was simple.

Release the virus.

Destroy the unchosen.

Then spread an airborne antidote to kill all infected.

Afterward, unfreeze the survivors.

Rule the world.

Marcus opposed him.

Isaacs prepared anyway.

Albert Wesker killed Marcus.

Marcus's shares passed to Alicia.

Weak-willed, she was forced to agree.

Isaacs became obsessed with her body.

He extracted her cells.

Used Umbrella's cloning technology.

Adjusted genes.

Created Alice.

And more clones, elsewhere.

The T-virus wasn't just destruction.

If someone could withstand it perfectly...

They gained power.

Then came the events of Resident Evil 1.

With Morin as a variable.

And Aliens added.

The story was already collapsing.

"So... I'm a clone," Alice said quietly.

Anyone would struggle hearing this.

Identity.

Self.

Existence.

Morin said nothing more.

He didn't comfort her.

If it were him, he wouldn't accept it easily either.

But there was something he needed first.

"We'll talk later," Morin said, steadying her.

"Right now, we save the world."

"Give me clearance. Full permissions."

"And we work with the Red Queen."

"...I'll open Alicia's clearance to you." Alice's eyes hardened.

"So," Morin turned back to the Red Queen, "what's the situation?"

"As you wish."

With Alicia's clearance active, everything changed.

Morin could access everything.

Order anything that didn't violate core programming.

"Release all data on Biological Experiment A04," Morin said.

"One frame per second."

He inserted a USB drive.

"Copy everything."

"One frame per second?" the Red Queen confirmed.

"Yes."

"I can read it."

Data flooded the screen.

Unreadable chaos to anyone else.

Perfect clarity to Morin.

With Knight's Bloodline and Bullet Time active, it was effortless.

Even without them, his perception far exceeded normal limits.

He finished quickly.

And understood.

Then-

Alien vs. Predator.

The prey is gone.

What kind of coming-of-age ritual happens now?

A tour of the pyramid?

Or do they come looking...

Release a horde...

And use Earth as a training ground?

Morin didn't doubt it.

To Predators, humanity was a slave species.

What did it matter if they destroyed it?

What did ants matter?

Especially to a race obsessed with battle.

"I don't know how strong they are," Morin thought.

"But any civilization capable of interstellar travel isn't weak."

"And rituals like this..."

"That's trouble."

Far away, in Antarctica, three Predators returned to their ship.

They reported to the Elder.

"Find them," the Elder said immediately.

"Release them."

"Let them occupy this planet."

"Then we fight."

"Predators-has it been so long since you faced war of this scale that you forgot honor?"

"Fight."

"If you win, you receive glory."

"If you lose, you die in shame."

"And as for the slaves..."

"They dared steal the master's prey."

"Let them suffer."
