Hearing those words, Emiya finally relaxed.
If the Great Nagato said there was no problem, then there truly was no problem.
"Is there anything I need to do?" he asked.
The Great Nagato shook her head.
"Oh." Emiya glanced at Toka Kirishima, who was still brimming with anger.
"Don't rush. You'll see the results soon."
With that, he withdrew his psychic restraint.
The moment she regained her freedom, Toka Kirishima retreated several steps, fear still lingering in her eyes.
Her gaze shifted between Emiya and the Great Nagato.
"What exactly are you doing?" she demanded.
"You'll know in a bit," Emiya replied calmly, offering no explanation.
They waited.
After a short while, the Great Nagato handed the test tube containing Toka Kirishima's blood to Emiya.
"Once she drinks this, she'll become human."
Emiya tossed the test tube to Toka Kirishima.
"You heard her. Drink it, and you'll become human."
Toka Kirishima stared at the test tube in disbelief.
This man had drawn her blood, handed it to that strange woman, and now she was giving it back, saying she'd become human if she drank it?
It sounded ridiculous.
She wasn't a child. How could she believe something like this?
"If you don't believe it, try," Emiya said casually.
"Unless you plan on eating human flesh for the rest of your life."
Toka Kirishima fell silent.
She looked at the blood in her hand, hesitation clear on her face.
"Want me to help you?" Emiya asked.
"No. I'll do it myself."
She knew she had no way out.
She drank it.
"I don't feel anything," she said immediately.
Emiya turned to the Great Nagato.
"When does it take effect?"
"The moment it's swallowed."
"I see."
Emiya created a piece of bread and tossed it to Toka Kirishima.
"This is normal human bread. Take a bite."
"If you don't want to, I can help."
Toka Kirishima glared at him.
But she knew she had no choice.
She bit into it.
In an instant, a taste she had never known spread through her mouth.
She froze.
A ghoul shouldn't be able to eat human food.
But she was tasting it.
And it was... good.
No.
It was delicious.
Her heart pounded.
She instinctively tried to release her Kagune.
Nothing happened.
As if it had never existed.
"I... I've become human?" she asked, staring at Emiya.
"How did you do this?"
"You wouldn't understand," Emiya replied lazily.
To be honest, he didn't understand either.
The Great Nagato was always like this.
From creating self-navigating bats to casually altering world lines.
It all looked unscientific.
Yet somehow, it was perfectly scientific.
After all, she was an alien.
More precisely, an organic lifeform contact-use humanoid interface.
She could manipulate matter at the molecular level.
This was normal for her.
"In short," Emiya said, "you're human now."
"You can go to school. Leave school. Eat normally."
"You don't have to fear the CCG anymore."
"And you don't have to hide your identity from your friends."
Toka Kirishima fell silent.
After a moment, she spoke softly.
"Thank you."
Emiya turned to the Great Nagato.
"Nagato, can you make a medicine that turns ghouls into humans?"
The Great Nagato pointed at Toka Kirishima.
"She is the medicine."
Emiya understood immediately.
"You mean... she's the antidote now?"
The Great Nagato nodded.
"So if she gives her blood to other ghouls, they'll become human too?"
Another nod.
Emiya frowned slightly.
"That's troublesome. There are organizations in her world that specialize in studying ghouls."
"If they find out, they might capture her."
The Great Nagato adjusted her glasses.
"It doesn't matter."
"Anyone who drinks her blood becomes an antidote as well."
Emiya froze.
Toka Kirishima reacted instantly.
"You mean... if I turn other ghouls into humans, their blood will also be able to turn more ghouls into humans?"
The Great Nagato nodded again.
Emiya snapped his fingers.
"Good."
"Use the Anteiku café as a base."
"Start there, then expand outward."
"From district to district."
"In a year or two, ghouls might disappear entirely."
"Of course, some won't want to become human."
"But if they insist on staying ghouls, it doesn't matter if the CCG kills them."
Toka Kirishima opened her mouth, wanting to argue that a ghoul's life was still a life.
But she stopped.
Most ghouls attacked humans because they had no choice.
They couldn't survive otherwise.
Not everyone wanted to live that way.
Now, if someone rejected the chance to become human and still chose to hunt people-
Even she didn't know how to defend that.
"In any case, that's settled," Emiya said, clapping his hands.
He turned to Toka Kirishima.
"I'll send you back. Go turn the Fueguchi family human first."
Toka Kirishima stiffened.
"What's your relationship with Hinami?"
"None," Emiya replied.
"I just feel sorry for her."
Toka Kirishima didn't understand.
But Haruhi Suzumiya did.
This Hinami Fueguchi was clearly another tragic character.
Emiya was simply cutting off a tragedy before it could happen.
"You really are a good person," Haruhi said.
"I'm not," Emiya replied.
"It's just self-satisfaction."
Haruhi snorted and turned to the Great Nagato.
"Nagato. The thing I asked for."
"It's ready."
"Give it to me."
The Great Nagato pulled out a flip phone and handed it to Emiya.
"Take this."
Emiya looked at it.
"What is this?"
"Are you blind?" Haruhi snapped.
"It's a phone. A phone!"
"No. I mean, why are you giving this to me? I don't need it."
"Who says you don't?" Haruhi crossed her arms.
"I had Nagato make it."
"It can communicate across worlds."
"No matter what world you're in, I can call you."
Emiya paused.
"You're joking."
Cross-world communication was absurd.
Then he remembered.
The night when Haruhi's power was fully unleashed.
The night the world line was rewritten.
Aliens vanished.
Time travelers vanished.
Espers vanished.
Haruhi lost her godlike power.
And Yuki Nagato-
Changed.
From that moment, she became something else entirely.
If Haruhi and Nagato together could rewrite reality-
Then a cross-world phone?
Suddenly, it didn't seem impossible.
"Can it really communicate across worlds?" Emiya asked, examining it.
"Yes," Haruhi said smugly.
"Can it be mass-produced?" Emiya asked the Great Nagato.
"Yes."
"Then I'll take a hundred."
He wanted one for every friend.
So they could contact him whenever they needed.
"It will take time," the Great Nagato said.
"How long?"
"About a week."
"That's fine."
"I'll come back in a week."
She nodded.
"Thanks, Nagato."
After that, Emiya said goodbye to the Great Nagato and Haruhi Suzumiya.
He took Toka Kirishima and returned to her world.
They stood once more in the abandoned building.
"I've done what I needed to do," Emiya said.
"The rest is up to you."
Toka Kirishima bowed deeply.
"Thank you."
"No need," Emiya waved it off.
"You didn't ask for help."
"I just did this because I wanted to."
With that, Emiya left the Tokyo Ghoul world.
Leaving Toka Kirishima behind.
For him, this world no longer held any interest.
