Emiya's Dragon of Greed was powerful.
So far, it had devoured at least several thousand monsters.
However, all of them had been relatively ordinary-at most, demons on the level of the Twelve Kizuki.
But this time was different.
This time, it had swallowed a Duke of Hell-a super-super-super demon.
Emiya had been fully prepared for the worst.
If the Duke of Hell burst out of the Dragon of Greed or tore it apart from the inside, Emiya wouldn't have been surprised in the slightest. A being of that rank absolutely had such power.
That was why Emiya stayed on high alert, already prepared to call Aqua into action.
The moment the Duke of Hell broke free, Aqua would unleash Sacred Exorcism, while Emiya pushed the Dragon of Greed to its absolute limit and forcibly extracted the demon's life force.
Yet-to his surprise-the process went incredibly smoothly.
After being devoured, the Duke of Hell barely resisted.
After all, it had already been struck by at least seven or eight Sacred Exorcisms. Its body was still smoking from the holy power. Under such conditions, resisting was impossible.
Only then did Emiya finally relax.
Soon, the Duke of Hell's life force was completely extracted by the Dragon of Greed.
The entire process was smooth-too smooth.
What puzzled Emiya, however, was the result.
The life force he obtained wasn't as vast as he had expected.
It was certainly stronger than Kokushibo's, and even several times stronger-but this was a Duke of Hell.
In Emiya's mind, a Duke of Hell should possess life force so immense that even all Twelve Kizuki combined wouldn't compare to one of its hands.
Compared to such a being, Muzan Kibutsuji was insignificant-on a completely different level altogether.
And yet, the reality was that the life force he gained was only equivalent to several Upper Rank demons combined, not overwhelmingly beyond them.
Something was wrong.
Then, in the very next second, Emiya realized the truth.
Although Maxwell was called a Duke of Hell, how could a fat, bald noble with such pathetic strength possibly summon a true Duke of Hell into the human world?
The answer was obvious.
This demon was merely a projection-or at best, a fragment.
That explained everything.
With that realization, Emiya fully relaxed and began calmly absorbing the life force he had obtained.
The Dragon of Greed let out a silent roar before dissolving into nothingness, disappearing before everyone's eyes.
Only then did the others finally recover from the shock.
"Arrest him!" Prosecutor Sena ordered sharply.
The knights rushed forward at once.
Without the demon's protection, the fat, bald noble was completely helpless and was immediately subdued.
In Emiya's opinion, this outcome was far too lenient.
In the original course of events, the man had been tricked by another demon, Vanir, into speaking the phrase "paying the price," and was dragged straight into Hell by Duke Maxwell himself, condemned to eternal torment.
Being merely arrested by the kingdom's knights was practically mercy.
If Emiya had his way, he would have sent the man to Hell personally.
After the arrest, Prosecutor Sena bowed deeply to Emiya.
"If not for you, this case would never have been solved. Capturing a lord who colluded with demons is a tremendous achievement."
Emiya smiled faintly and accepted her thanks.
Then he asked, "When can Kazuma Satou be released?"
By now, Prosecutor Sena fully believed him.
Kazuma Satou wasn't a criminal-he was a victim.
"No need to worry," she said firmly. "I'll release Mr. Kazuma Satou as soon as we return."
"Thank you."
"It's only my duty."
At the police station, Prosecutor Sena kept her word.
Kazuma Satou was released immediately.
"Huh?" Kazuma blinked in confusion at the entrance. "I... I can go?"
The knight beside him nodded.
Darkness waved excitedly.
"Kazuma! Over here!"
Kazuma turned and saw Darkness, Aqua, and Emiya standing together.
Everything clicked.
"It was you, wasn't it, Emiya-san?" Kazuma said gratefully. "You saved me. Thank you so much!"
He wasn't stupid.
Relying on Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness to rescue him would've been harder than ascending to heaven.
This could only have been Emiya's doing.
Aqua puffed up angrily.
"Hey! I helped too, you useless NEET!"
"Oh? Is that so?" Kazuma replied flatly.
"Then... thanks."
That completely set Aqua off.
"You wanna fight?!"
"Enough," Emiya said quickly, clapping his hands.
The knights were staring at them like they were lunatics.
"Let's go back to the mansion. I have something important to tell you."
Aqua shut up immediately-sparkling wine still hung over her head.
Kazuma followed obediently.
When they returned home, Megumin stared wide-eyed at Kazuma.
"Huh? You're back? Escaping from prison is a serious crime, you know. You should turn yourself in before-"
"Kazuma didn't escape," Darkness interrupted.
"Emiya saved him."
Megumin tugged her hat down smugly.
"As expected of Emiya. Completely reliable. Unlike someone."
Kazuma opened his mouth to argue-
But Emiya clapped his hands again.
"Alright. Enough."
"I have something important to tell you."
Aqua's eyes lit up.
"Important? Did you find the Demon King's lair?!"
"The Demon King is always in his lair," Kazuma deadpanned.
Emiya ignored them.
"Actually... I'm not from this world."
Aqua: ...
Kazuma: ...
"Yes, yes," Emiya continued. "And not just that-I'm not from your world either."
"???" Kazuma's brain froze.
So Emiya calmly explained everything: his origins, his powers, and his ability to travel between worlds.
When he finished, the room fell silent.
After a long while-
"N-No way..." Kazuma muttered. "You can really travel between worlds?"
Emiya nodded.
"That's insanely unfair," Kazuma said enviously.
Aqua slapped her thigh.
"So that's why I didn't guide you! You just popped in out of nowhere!"
She had thought she'd made a mistake that day.
"So you're not even a reincarnator!"
"I'm sorry, Aqua," Emiya said honestly. "I lied."
"But thanks to you, I got an extra ability for free. So I'm grateful."
Aqua puffed up proudly.
"Of course! I am the Goddess of Water!"
Darkness and Megumin exchanged pitying looks.
They still thought Aqua was delusional.
All thanks to Kazuma.
"In short," Emiya continued, "I won't be staying in this world all the time anymore."
"You'll need to continue your adventures yourselves."
"But if you ever face something you can't handle-call me."
"Call you?" Kazuma scoffed. "From this world?"
Emiya pulled out several mobile phones and handed them over.
"These phones can communicate across worlds."
"No matter where I am, I'll receive your call."
"...WHAT?!"
Kazuma stared at the phone in awe.
"Technology in other worlds is this ridiculous?!"
Emiya smiled without answering.
Megumin bounced excitedly.
"Hey, Emiya! What are other worlds like?"
"They're colorful," Emiya said. "Some are similar. Others are completely different."
"For example, I've been to a world where the sea covers most of the land, and there's a vast ocean route called the Grand Line-"
"Whoa, stop!" Kazuma interrupted. "That's One Piece!"
"Don't try to fool a child with manga!"
Emiya smiled calmly.
"How do you know I haven't been to the One Piece world?"
"That's impossible!"
"Nothing is impossible."
Kazuma still refused to believe him.
A manga world being real was just too absurd.
Aqua, meanwhile, was on the verge of tears.
"If you leave... what about the Demon King?"
She desperately wanted Emiya to defeat him so she could return to the heavens.
"Don't worry," Emiya said gently. "Kazuma will handle it."
"That useless NEET can't do it!" Aqua cried. "Without you, we're doomed!"
Emiya patted her head reassuringly.
"Don't worry, Aqua."
"Kazuma is amazing."
"He'll definitely defeat the Demon King."
After all-
He already had.
Aqua, of course, didn't believe a word of it.
