The shadow that had appeared beyond the battlefield grew larger with every passing second. What at first looked like a distant distortion in space soon revealed itself as something far more massive. The darkness rippled like water disturbed by a falling stone, and from within that distortion a colossal warship forced its way into real space.
The ship emerged slowly, its enormous hull absorbing the faint light of Terria's distant sun. Layered armor plates ran across its long predatory body, the surface broken by recessed weapon arrays and glowing seams of dim crimson energy. Its sheer scale dwarfed the orbitons fighting nearby.
It appeared directly behind the Hound unit.
Inside the Hound's cockpit, Larsen's sensors flickered as the ship completed its arrival. A new signal opened across his communications channel.
A relaxed voice came through.
"Hey Larsen," the man said casually. "You look like you're in a bit of a pickle. Want some help?"
Larsen's lips curled slightly as he recognized the voice.
"Dellor."
The pilot leaned back slightly in his seat, watching the two Terrian orbitons hovering across the battlefield.
"I'm just getting started."
Dellor laughed over the comms.
"Alright, alright… but don't forget who you're dealing with. You've got the Reaper and the Phantom in front of you. No matter what, don't underestimate them."
Inside the cockpit Larsen slowly licked his lips, a faint spark of excitement igniting in his eyes.
"Oh," he said quietly.
"You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this."
There was a brief pause before Dellor spoke again.
"Fair enough. Then we'll give you something to make it interesting."
The massive ship moved slightly, opening a large launch bay beneath its central hull. A mechanical arm extended outward holding a huge rectangular container nearly the size of the Hound itself.
"Sending the Trident," Dellor said.
"You should be able to link with it."
The container was released.
It drifted across the battlefield toward the Hound unit, tumbling slowly through open space. As it approached, its armored casing split apart into multiple panels that folded outward like blooming metal petals.
Inside—
a weapon awakened.
Three enormous spearheads unfolded outward from a central shaft, each blade longer than the Hound's entire arm. The surface of the weapon glowed with deep orange circuitry that pulsed like molten veins.
It was not simply a lance.
It was something far more monstrous.
The Trident.
Larsen guided the Hound forward.
The machine reached out and grasped the weapon.
The moment its hands closed around the shaft—
everything changed.
The Trident ignited.
Blazing orange plasma erupted across the weapon's surface, crawling along the shaft and spreading through the Hound's arms like wildfire racing through dry grass. The energy surged directly into the machine's core.
The Valis particle fusion core responded instantly.
Energy levels spiked beyond anything previously recorded.
The transformation began.
Bright orange plasma surged across the Hound's armor plating, racing along its mechanical frame in violent arcs. The machine's silhouette began to shift as new structures formed from condensed energy.
Two massive plasma horns erupted from the top of the Hound's head, burning like curved blades of fire.
At the same moment, a long plasma tail extended from the lower spine of the machine, stretching nearly to its knees before coiling slightly behind it like the tail of a predator ready to strike.
The Trident itself changed as well.
The three spearheads fused with the Hound's energy output, their blades blazing with intense orange plasma that distorted the surrounding vacuum.
The machine's entire form now radiated terrifying power.
The synchronization between the Hound and the weapon completed.
Diablo Mode activated.
Inside the cockpit Larsen exhaled slowly as the power flooded through the machine.
His sensors screamed warnings.
But his smile only widened.
Dellor's voice returned over the comms.
"Alright Larsen," he said with amusement. "Looks like you're all set."
A pause followed.
"It's time for our part now… so have fun."
The giant warship slowly rotated away from the battlefield.
Space rippled again.
And in a moment the ship vanished back into the distortion, disappearing into the void.
But Leonora had already moved.
The Phantom unit exploded forward at breakneck speed, its thrusters burning white as she raced toward the retreating warship.
"If that ship gets away—" she began.
But before she could finish—
Youri saw it.
"Leonora!"
Too late.
Phantom had already committed to the charge.
Just as she reached the point where the warship had vanished—
space warped behind her.
The Hound unit appeared instantly.
Larsen had warped directly into her blind spot.
The Trident was already moving.
The three blazing spearheads aimed directly at Phantom's core.
Leonora's sensors screamed warnings.
She spun the machine around but she knew it was too late.
Then—
space erupted in crimson light.
Inside the NOIR cockpit Youri forced the ACX-01 cortex past its limits.
Energy surged violently through the machine.
NOIR's entire frame ignited with deep red light as every thruster fired at once.
The machine launched forward like a meteor.
A massive crimson vector trail formed behind it, glowing so brightly it could be seen even from Central Command's distant observation decks.
In a blink—
NOIR crossed the entire battlefield.
The black orbiton appeared directly between Phantom and the Hound.
The clash was instantaneous.
NOIR's crimson plasma blade slammed against the blazing Trident.
The impact detonated like a star exploding.
Energy shockwaves rippled outward as the two weapons collided, scattering molten plasma across the void.
Leonora's Phantom shot backward from the blast as Youri locked the Hound in place.
The two machines hovered face-to-face.
Trident against plasma blade.
Red against orange.
Inside the cockpit Larsen's grin widened.
Now the real fight had begun.
The Hound moved first.
Its plasma tail lashed forward like a living whip.
Youri barely saw it coming.
The blazing tail wrapped around NOIR's arm and yanked the machine sideways before slamming it violently into a nearby debris field left from the destroyed transport ship.
Fragments of metal exploded outward as NOIR crashed through them.
Youri recovered instantly.
He fired the thrusters and burst forward again.
The Hound was already waiting.
The Trident spun through Larsen's hands like a storm.
The three plasma blades carved wide arcs through space, each strike capable of tearing an orbiton apart.
Youri dodged the first swing.
The second cut across NOIR's shoulder armor, sending glowing fragments spinning into space.
Then the tail struck again.
This time from below.
The blazing appendage wrapped around NOIR's leg and hurled the machine upward.
But before Larsen could follow up—
Phantom returned.
Leonora descended from above like a falling comet.
Her twin plasma blades ignited brighter than ever as she slashed toward the Hound's exposed flank.
Larsen twisted the Trident sideways.
The three blades collided with Phantom's weapons in a violent burst of plasma.
Energy erupted across the battlefield.
The Hound spun the weapon again, forcing Leonora backward before unleashing a devastating counterattack.
The Trident fired a massive plasma surge down its shaft.
The beam tore through space like a burning river.
Leonora barely escaped as the blast ripped through the battlefield, carving a glowing scar across the debris field below.
But while Larsen focused on Phantom—
NOIR returned.
Youri surged forward through the fading plasma cloud.
The ACX-01 cortex screamed in protest as he pushed it even harder.
The crimson blade ignited brighter.
NOIR swung with everything it had.
The strike landed.
The blade carved across the Hound's armor, leaving a deep glowing wound across its torso plating.
For the first time—
Larsen's machine staggered.
But the pilot only laughed.
The plasma tail snapped forward again, whipping across NOIR's chest before coiling around its torso and pulling the machine directly toward the Trident.
Larsen thrust the weapon forward.
The three burning blades raced toward NOIR's core.
Then Phantom struck again.
Leonora's machine slammed into the Hound from the side, breaking the attack just before the killing blow could land.
The battlefield erupted into chaos.
Three machines.
Three blazing energy signatures.
Red.
Orange.
Violet.
The void above Terria had become a storm of plasma, fire, and impossible speed.
And the battle had only just begun.
