Three days had flown by since Isha's confession. Sky's demeanor towards Sillia remained unchanged, a constancy that brought a quiet joy to his sister.
"Oh yeah, I finally did it. It took me years to do so, but finally, I did it," Sky thought, gazing at the table in front of him, levitating a few centimeters above the ground. His years of tireless effort had paid off; he could now effortlessly lift objects with his mind, just as he had learned to fly using his telekinetic abilities.
Suddenly, heavy rain began to fall, droplets splashing through the open window into his room. Sky watched, unmoving, for a few seconds. Then, with a loud bang, the window slammed shut.
"I still can't move multiple things at once, but I will soon learn that too," Sky mused, gently lowering the table. Just as it settled, the door opened, and Sillia entered. She had been out with her friends, shopping and enjoying street food.
"Oh, you've returned?" Sky asked with a smile, looking at her.
"Yes, I'm so tired. I just wanna change my clothes and sleep," Sillia said, tossing her bag onto the table before heading off to change. Sky merely glanced at the bag.
"So what have you brought? And did you enjoy yourself?" Sky asked. Sillia, now dressed in comfortable sleeping clothes (it was quite late, but they hadn't had dinner yet), settled herself in front of Sky, laying down on his mattress on the floor with a relaxed expression.
"Yeah, I enjoyed myself, and I've brought a few things for me," Sillia replied, gently caressing her exposed tummy.
"Oh, good," Sky nodded before asking, "Anything for me?" Sillia looked at him with an angry expression. "Haven't I told you to come with me, but you refused? So I didn't bring anything. Hmph!"
"Huh? Really? I bring you something every time I go outside." Sky protested.
"Huh? You do? Then tell me how many things have you brought for me in the past two weeks? And you go out almost every day," Sillia challenged, her eyes narrowed in a smile.
"That… I was doing some work, so I forgot, but back in our apartment, I brought you something every time…" Sky protested. Sillia replied nonchalantly, "We are not in our apartment. Anyway, what are you doing here all alone? Mother said you haven't come out of your room since I went to the market?"
"I was just meditating…"
"Meditating? I don't understand why you always meditate in your free time, like your life depends on it." Sillia asked in confusion. This wasn't the first time Sky had meditated, but he spent most of his free time doing so, and Sillia didn't understand its significance. She knew it was good to meditate for a few minutes or half an hour, but Sky would meditate for hours if he sat quietly.
"Well, Sillia, to control my mind," Sky replied calmly.
"Control your mind from what? Not to find other girls while you have a girlfriend?" Sillia joked, giggling lightly.
"No, to control it in a way that nothing can affect you. Like, I won't become angry or cry for not being taken to the beach or something. I'm happy that I get to go there, but it shouldn't affect me even if I don't. Meditating and becoming a little emotionally detached will help me to think and make decisions without being influenced by emotions. Because, girl, a truly enlightened person is one who understands that 'True wisdom lies in treating gain and loss, triumph and defeat, and joy and sorrow with equal indifference, enduring them without being swayed,'" Sky articulated, as Sillia stared at him, unblinking.
"So you're saying we should just abandon our emotions? If so, then what's the point of living?" Sillia asked. Sky shook his head slightly.
"No, of course not. But emotional detachment would just help you think clearly without being influenced. Like, I'm happy that you are with me currently, but if someday you are not, it shouldn't affect me. Because one should always rely on himself. There is no one in this world for you. The one who is for you is yourself," Sky said. When I say emotional detachment, it doesn't mean abandoning emotions completely. I can definitely feel pity and sympathy if someone is getting hurt or something, but this shouldn't affect my decision-making. Because it may be useful or important to you and mortals like you, but since I have a chance to become strong enough to control many things, I won't lose because of some mere emotions. I don't want to lose or have a weakness like emotions within me. I want to reach the top of the world to find the true meaning of life. Since I have a chance to explore the greater sights of the world, I am not going to lose because of emotions. Because no one is immortal, and one day everyone will eventually die. So, having emotions and going on a rampage or killing themselves for someone else would be a bad decision, which I simply don't want to accept. I want to know the answer if I am capable of controlling life and death since I have such powers which set me far above any mortals. Sky thought many things as Sillia replied.
"Say that again, and I will cut your tongue out of your mouth! You're deliberately saying all those things, right? I know you haven't forgiven me. Neither do you love me anymore. You just want to push me away as soon as possible. I hate you… I hate you! You heartless creature!" Sillia declared, suddenly covering her face with a pillow, her words laced with sorrow.
The Unconditional and the Conditional
"Huh? I don't mean that, girl. I just gave you an example; you don't need to take it seriously or anything. Plus, I'm not angry with you, nor will I be. You want to know why?" Sky asked. Sillia stopped her feigned distress and, genuinely curious and a little worried about why Sky hadn't reacted with anger or a scolding, asked, "Why?"
"Well, that's because what you told me is a mere trifle. And let me ask you, what would you do if I really did push you away?" Sky asked, his gaze unwavering.
"I will be very angry. And probably you don't want to hear what I can do," Sillia retorted, her eyes serious as she stared directly at Sky.
"That's the difference between you and me. What you do is love under condition, and what I do is unconditional love," Sky stated, launching into an explanation of different types of love. Sillia's eyes widened, a flicker of anger igniting within them as he spoke.
