Damian let out a deep sigh as he stood outside her room. It wasn't loud, It wasn't dramatic, it was just a slow exhale that carried more weight than he cared to acknowledge. His eyes drifted downward, settling on his hand that was fisted so tightly at his side that his knuckles had turned white. He hadn't even realised he was clenching it that hard.
He was upset, but not at her.
That much he knew already, the realisation only irritated him further.
He was upset at how he had reacted. At the edge in his voice. At the way he had stayed longer than necessary. At the fact that he had noticed how thin she looked, how her eyes was red and the dark circles beneath her eyes, she had been crying, a lot, he immediately could tell. He was upset that it had unsettled him in a way he didn't understand.
